Cardiff have been convincingly beaten 3-0 by fourth place Leeds United.

Mark McGuinness on the ball against Leeds United.

Patrick Bamford found himself in behind after ten minutes, however he dragged his effort wide of the Cardiff goal. Bamford did then give The Whites the lead three minutes later as he tapped in from close range.

Jak Alnwick made two great saves to deny Summerville and Bamford, but Leeds doubled their lead in the 31st minute through Welsh international Daniel James.

Jamilu Collins and Dimitrios Goutas had half chances, however neither converted meaning Cardiff went in at half-time two down.

On the hour mark, James hit the bar after lobbing Jak Alnwick. Twenty minutes layer, McGuinness clattered into Rutter in the box leading to a Leeds penalty, however Summerville failed to convert.

Ten minutes later Rutter added a third and sealed all three points for the visitors.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (8) MOTM - Could've easily been five or six without Alnwick between the sticks. Made some fantastic saves. Distribution was good, found Meite several times and got us up the pitch. Understandably frustrated with the defenders.

Perry Ng (4.5) - No denying Summerville's quality, but at times Ng showed him too much respect and allowed him to do what he wanted. Didn't get tight enough to his man. Going forward didn't offer a great deal.

Mark McGuinness (4) - Really struggled against an intelligent Bamford. Drawn too easily for the first goal, should've just followed his man, instead of following the ball. Clumsy penalty to give away.

Dimitrios Goutas (5) - Also wasn't the best defensively. Could shut down the first quicker. Did a few nice pieces on the ball.

Jamilu Collins (4.5) - I would say, I think everyone expected things to go how they did, he just didn't get near James. No positional awareness.

Manolis Siopis (4) - One or two nice pieces of defensive works, but on a whole a poor afternoon. At fault for the second goal. Subbed at half-time was probably justified.

Ryan Wintle (6) - Tidy performance. Typical Wintle performance to be fair. Good on the ball and looked good. However, defensively he was anonymous.

Joe Ralls (6) - Was up for it before picking up the injury. Was the one player who got in Leeds players' faces and didn't show them too much respect. Shame he went off injured.

Josh Bowler (6.5) - Looked really dangerous in the first half and got in behind at ease at times, just struggled with the final delivery. Quieter in the second half.

Karlan Grant (6) - Tried to make things happen, just didn't fall for him. One or two decent long range efforts.

Kion Etete (4.5) - Was bypassed far too easily. Did one or two nice pieces but in general was beaten far too easily by the Leeds defenders.

Subs:

Rubin Colwill (6.5) - Trademark Colwill. Made things happen when he came on. Should've started.

Andy Rinomhota (7) - Added energy and got in the faces of the Leeds player. Drived up the pitch and on the whole was good. Part to play in the third and arguably should've scored let's him down slightly.

Yakou Meite (7) - Thought he was a handful when he came on. Created for others they just didn't execute. Linked up well with Grant.

Ollie Tanner (6) - Brought energy when he came on, came on probably a little too late to make a massive impact.

Summary:

An uncomfortable defensive performance to watch, the visitors looked like they could score everytime they went forward, but we have no depth to change it, so it's hard to find a solution, perhaps a change of system?
