Writer's picture: ccfcinsiderccfcinsider

We've now entered the business end of the January Transfer Window, with just two days remaining for The Bluebirds to complete deals.

Cardiff City Stadium.

When is the actual Deadline?

The window for EFL Championship sides will close on the 1st of February at 11pm.

Possible Incomings?

Nathaniel Phillips:

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips.

Phillips is poised to join The Bluebirds on loan for the remainder of the 23/24 season. The 26 year-old is reportedly in South Wales this afternoon to complete his Cardiff City medical. Phillips spent the first half of the season on loan at Celtic where he made six appearences. Phillips is strong in the air and comfortable on the ball. He is also already proven at Championship level as he played for Bournemouth, during The Cherries promotion season . His contract at The Reds expires next summer.

Andrej Ilic:

Cardiff reportedly lead the race for Serbian striker Andrej Ilic. The 23 year-old is currently playing his football for Norwegian side Vålerenga. Cardiff placed a bid of £3.4M with potential add-ons adding up to £2.3M yesterday. Lille tried to hijack the deal, however had their bid rejected due to not including a sell-on clause in the deal, something The Bluebirds included in their deal. Cardiff reportedly adjusted details in their offer last night. So, very much a deal up in the air. Ilic is thought to be keen on a move to the Welsh capital, therefore personal terms will be no problem. Ranked the ninth best striker in Europe last season, Ilic has caught in the eye in Norway. The 23 year-old is impressive in the air and makes space for himself in the box and typically is in the right place at the right time.

Kieffer Moore:

Kieffer Moore in action for Bournemouth.

Moore is tipped to join one of Cardiff City, Sunderland or Ipswich Town before the window closes. However, Ipswich have confirmed the signing of Ali Al-Hamadi in recent days, which could see them out of the mix. Cardiff are thought to have placed a loan with option to buy bid for the Welsh international. It's also understood Moore holds Cardiff in high regard as he loves the area, and has fond memories from his last spell at the club. Erol Bulut has also not played down how much he would like Moore, and he was thought to be the club's top target heading into the window. Kieffer Moore is a target man who is key in build up play as he brings wingers into play. Moore is a huge aerial threat and is strong in his aerial duels. Bournemouth travel to West Ham on Deadline Day, so that Bournemouth squad will one to keep an eye on.

David Turnbull:

Cardiff City are understood to be in talks with Celtic over a move for David Turnbull. The 24 year-old has slipped down the pecking order at Celtic Park, and is now expected to depart before the Deadline. The Scottish internatioanl has seven goals in the Scottish Premiership so far this season. Turnbull also has a great passing range and is impressive from dead ball situations. A move to watch.

Badou N'Diaye:

Badou N'Diaye in action for Adana Demirspor.

Reports in Turkey over the weekend stated Cardiff had reached an agreement with midfielder Badou N'Diaye. However, sources today suggest the midfielder is set to join Super Lig outfit Pendiksor on a one and a half year deal. The 33 year-old was also of interest to Samunspor, however Pendikspor now looks he most likely destination for N'Diaye.

Ethan Horvath:

A deal that's gone very quiet. Cardiiff were thought to be 'closing in' on goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, however things seemed to have quietened down since then. The Nottingham Forest 'keeper finds himself as fourth choice at The Reds, and will be hoping to seal a move away this window. Horvath spent last season at Luton where he got promoted as well as keeping nineteen clean sheets. The American has impressive reflexes and a good passing range for a goalkeeper.

Possible Outgoings?

Romaine Sawyers:

Romaine Sawyers in action against Sheffield Wednesday.

It's no secret Cardiff are keen to sell Romaine Sawyers. The departure of Sawyers would see a wage free up and allow Cardiff to make movements on more incomings. The Midfielder's current deal expires in the summer. There's no reported interest in Romaine Sawyers as of yet.

Andy Rinomhota:

Cardiff City midfielder Andy Rinomhota.

Rinomhota was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the month, however Rinomhota has seen more game time since the start of the month, so his future is up in the air ahead if Deadline Day. The Zimbabwe international was subject of interest from Rotherham United in the summer, however that deal fell through.

Ebou Adams:

This is probably fan speculation more than anything. The 28 year-old hasn't seen the minutes he would've hoped this season, which could lead to a League One team possible try their luck with a move for Adams. However, no reported interest as of yet in the Gambian international.

Alex Runarsson:

Alex Runarsson in action against West Brom.

It was thought at the start of the month, Cardiff were keen to send Alex Runarsson back to Arsenal to free up a loan slot. However, nothing concrete has happened as of yet. The Icelandic international hasn't enjoyed the best of times in the Welsh capital. I imagine he'll stay, unless a deal for Horvath advances.

Conclusion:

Cardiff will be working on deals right up until the Deadline, I think. Bulut wanted five, I'd be surprised if he got that many, I think three or four is more realistic. Cardiff are also keen for players to depart, whether that will happen, who knows.

A busy few days and a lot of refreshing Twitter awaits for supporters...
