Jesper Daland and Roko Simic both return to the Welsh Capital on the back of mixed personal loan spells in 2. Bundesliga. Daland suffered another relegation with Düsseldorf, whilst Simic recorded a mid table finish with Karlsruhe.

Fortuna Düsseldorf held the option to buy Jesper Daland permanently if they achieved promotion to the Bundesliga this season. Meaning due to the club's relegation Daland will be returning to the Welsh Capital this summer.
Karlsruher also held the option to secure Roko Simic on a permanent deal, however, the Croatian has failed to reach the requirements to make the permanent move. KSC were keen to sell Simic permanently if the 22 year-old did complete a permanent move to Germany.
Jesper Daland:

Daland returns to the Welsh Capital as the fifth choice centre-back, with it fair to assume the 26 year-old could be one City seek to move on again this summer. The Norwegian was largely poor during his spell at Düsseldorf, with a red card in late February signalling a significant blow to his season, with Daland starting just three games upon his return.
The centre-back's numbers don't make for great viewing either. In Daland's appearances, Düsseldorf conceded 1.50 goals per game and won 1.09 points per match when Daland played (the 5th worse in the squad). Granted the entire team evidently didn't perform to the required levels, Daland evidently had an individually challenging time in Germany.
In terms of what's next for Daland, a big summer is the immediate answer. It is a huge summer in the career of Jesper Daland. Entering the peak years of his career and with aspirations of a return to the Norway setup. However, Cardiff may seek to try and recoup some of the £3.5M they spent on Daland in the summer of 2024.
Roko Simic:

Roko Simic's spell in Germany went better than Daland's, despite also having struggles for game time. The Croatian contributed with four goal involvements in his twelve league starts. Simic did however play just 31.1% of the possible league minutes. To trigger the obligation to buy Simic was required to play a half in at least twenty games for Karlsruhe, something the 22 year-old fell significantly short of.
Simic's Cardiff career is one that is difficult to really put into words, it has been a car crash from the start with no real pathway. However, with Cardiff in need of a rotation option for Yousef Salech this summer, some fans would suggest their is now a pathway for Simic to come back and contribute in the Championship this summer.
We understand Cardiff's initial desire is to loan Roko Simic out again this summer, despite the striker's desire to come back and make an impact in the Welsh Capital.
Summary - What's Next?
It would appear early on in the summer that the pairs future lies elsewhere after difficult loan spells.
However, both could offer Cardiff a chance to save money this summer, if City change their mind and offer both a lifeline at the CCS.
