As January approaches, decisions will begin to be made on those players in on loan, and out on loan. We will have a look at the situations of those players ahead of the January Transfer Window.

Nathan Trott:

Nathan Trott has been a revelation since his summer move from København. Reports on the deal stated Trott would remain at Cardiff until at the minimum the end of the season, with a deal at the end of the season being possible if City seal promotion. Therefore, Cardiff aren't at risk of losing their star man in January. This is a huge plus for The Bluebirds with Trott having kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in League One so far this season.

Omari Kellyman:

Chelsea do hold the option to recall Omari Kellyman in January, however, recent reports have suggested both Chelsea and Cardiff are pleased with the 20 year-old's progress since arriving in the Welsh Capital, suggesting a recall is unlikely in January. Kellyman has grown in a Cardiff shirt, particularly since moving into the number ten position in the absence of Rubin Colwill.

Roko Simic:

It's been a mixed spell in Germany so far Roko Simic, but definitely an improvement on his previous disastrous season. The 22 year-old has netted three goals in sixteen appearances, starting seven of those. It's understood Simic's loan deal will become permanent as soon as he hits a certain amount of games for Karlsruher, therefore his days as a Cardiff player appear to be drawing to a close. There is no chance of Simic returning in January, or likely ever in a Cardiff City shirt.

Jesper Daland:

Daland appears to have grown into a Fortuna Düsseldorf shirt, earning praise from supporters. Despite this he and Düsseldorf sit in the relegation places. Reports in Germany at the time of the deal stated their was an option to buy at the end of the season for the Norwegian, however I imagine this'll rely heavily on whether F95 can stay in the second tier. Daland went off injured in their most recent game. Again, given the option to buy in the loan, a January return is off the cards for January.

Ethan Horvath:

The trend of Horvath's career has continued at Sheffield Wednesday, really, drawing mixed reviews but generally leaving fans with more to be desired. The American signed for Wednesday after first-choice goalkeeper Pierce Charles suffered a lengthy injury. Charles has since returned from injury, therefore Horvath has become number two goalkeeper. The 30 year-old's loan only runs until January, therefore he will return. Rumours of interest from the MLS have arose, so how long Horvath is back at Cardiff for remains to be decided.

Kion Etete:

Kion Etete has yet again had an injury-plagued season, as he's currently out with a knee and groin issue, with reports claiming at the time of the injury that a January return to Cardiff is possible. Etete has made nine appearances for The Millers, failing to contribute with a goal involvement. The 24 year-old has been absent since the 7th of October, leaving his Rotherham future up in the air ahead of the January window.

Michael Reindorf:

After scoring a stunner on his debut, it's been a tricky spell at Newport for Reindorf. Reindorf has been absent for the past two Matchday squads, with rumours starting to circle the 20 year-old will return to Cardiff in January. Since his opening day goal, Reindorf has contributed with two assists in twenty-one appearances. County currently sit in a precarious position at the foot of the EFL. Reindorf's future seems up in the air, but a fair chance the striker returns in January.

Will Spiers:

Spiers' loan at Merthyr Town expires at the end of the month, meaning Spiers will officially return in 2026. Due to it being a youth loan, Spiers has featured since making the move to Merthyr, and starred in a victory over Arsenal's U21's. The 19 year-old has impressed Merthyr supporters since making the move in mid-October.
