TOUGH TRIP TO THE HAWTHORNS AWAITS FOR CARDIFF

Writer's picture: ccfcinsiderccfcinsider

Cardiff City are back on the road as they face Carlos Corberan's West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Cardiff City captain Joe Ralls.

The Opposition:

West Brom have caught the eye this season and have sat consistently in the play-offs throughout the season. The Baggies main reason for success is their impressive home form, as they have won ten out of fifteen Championship games at The Hawthorns this season. Corberan's men have pulled off impressive wins against Leeds and Ipswich.

Corberan likes his team to play outnumbering. When playing with a high defensive line, Corberan is willing to take the risk of covering the back sectors at the expense of getting the ball back as quickly as possible. Coupled with the high defensive line goes aggressive pressing with a lot of forward involvement.

Albion sit fifth coming into this fixture.

The Bluebirds:

Cardiff were frustrated by Preston on the weekend, as they lost 2-0 despite dominating the game. The Bluebirds looked lost in the final third, but looked strong defensively, despite losing. City lacked creativity and will need to fix up ahead of a difficult trip to The Hawthorns.

West Brom have struggled against a low block this season, a system that has typically been decent for The Bluebirds. Cardiff will seek to hit The Baggies on the counter whilst maintaining a strong defensive line.

Team News:

Cardiff City - Karlan Grant is unavailable to play against his parent club. McGuinness, O'Dowda and Robinson out.

West Brom - Grady Diangana is back available. Semi Ajayi a doubt. Bartley, Phillips, Dike, Kelly, Reach, Maja and Molumby out.

Preferred XI:

GK - Ethan Horvath

RB - Perry Ng

RCB - Dimitrios Goutas

LCB - Nat Phillips

LB - Jamilu Collins

LDM - Joe Ralls

RDM - Manolis Siopis

CAM - David Turnbull

RW - Yakou Meite

LW - Rubin Colwill

ST - Famara Diedhiou

Predicition:

West Brom 3-0 Cardiff City

I think it will be a long evening for The Bluebirds. West Brom are inform and also dominant at home, I could see them strolling to victory.
