Following yesterday's defeat, it's come to light the three managerial options that Vincent Tan has rejected to remain with Omer Riza.

Slaven Bilic, Ryan Lowe and Neil Warnock.

Slaven Bilic was spoken to when Erol Bulut was dismissed in September, Lowe held talks around Boxing Day and Warnock's return seemed likely as of the last week.

Slaven Bilic is the most advanced Cardiff City got in terms of replacing Erol Bulut. Steven Schumacher also spoke to the club, however it left the club with more to be desired.

Reports at the time stated Bilic was a name popular among the board, with some believing only experienced managers could succeed at Cardiff City. Mehmet Dalman very much head hunted Slaven Bilic, however Vincent Tan didn't share that same interest.

It was thought Bilic would be ready to take the reigns from the 1st of January when he was originally discussed, however it appears the deal was long off before that.

Ryan Lowe:

After a disastrous run following the permanent appointment of Omer Riza, Cardiff looked set to part company with Riza, which would've made him the shortest reigning manager in the club's history.

Ryan Lowe was the one who got furthest in talks to replace Riza, with manager's like Robbie Keane and Neil Lennon both also being spoken to at the time. Again, Tan showed very little in replacing the City boss.

There was talk at the time that the players were keen on Riza staying in post, and City's win at Watford seemed to buy Riza time, and after a successful January on and off the pitch, the conversation over Riza's dismissal appeared to disappear.

Neil Warnock:

The most recent one is Neil Warnock. Per reliable source @henrysaye on X, Mehmet Dalman had agreed a deal with the veteran boss to return to the club for the final games of the season, in order to give City the best chance possible of staying in the Championship.

Vincent Tan however refused to sign off the deal. Tan has been vocal with criticism on elements of Neil Warnock's time in charge, with Tan claiming he was "conned" on signings made by the 74 year-old.

So, despite the best efforts of the board members, particularly Mehmet Dalman, it appears Omer Riza will be given the reigns until the end of the season at the minimum.

Summary:

Vincent Tan was given plenty of chances and has opted to ignore each one, therefore he can't blame-shift if City are relegated. Opting to ignore three better options is inexcusable.

The board have tried to replace Riza twice in five months, which tells you how they feel his reign has gone so far.
