Cardiff City have completed the signing of highly rated midfielder Manolis Siopis following his departure from Trabzanspor.
Siopis has joined The Bluebirds on a three-year deal where he will join up once again with Erol Bulut. The 29-year-old is a current Greek international.
Manolis Siopis started his career at Greek side Olympiacos where he spent 5 years as a youngster. Siopis joined Platanias on a season-long loan where he made his first professional appearance, Platanias finished 14th with Siopis making 16 appearances.
Siopis completed a permanent move to Panionis in the summer of 2014. Siopis enjoyed a successful spell at The Panthers being voted fans MVP for the 15/16 season, Siopis attracted interest from Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. In November 2017, Olympiacos agreed a deal that would see Siopis return to the club. He remained Panionis on loan for the remainder of the 17/18 season.
Despite only playing 3 games for Olympiacos, Siopis was on the move again. Manolis Siopis joined newly promoted Aris on a free transfer. Aris is where Siopis scored his only career goal to date netting a penalty. In May 2019, Siopis made his first appearance for Greece against Turkey. After an impressive season Siopis joined Alanyaspor, whose manager at the time was current Bluebirds boss Erol Bulut. Siopis spent 2 years at Alanyaspor playing 63 games.
In the summer of 2021, Siopis completed a deal to sign for Trabzanspor for a rumored €1M. The Greek international spent two years at Karadeniz Fırtınası making 63 appearances and assisting one goal. Manolis Siopis reportedly paid off his Trabzanspor contract to complete a move to the Welsh capital. Siopis joins The Bluebirds on a three-year deal linking up once again with Erol Bulut.
Siopis is a disrupter in midfield and is thought to be a 'game changer' for Cardiff. The Greek international isn't necessarily in the team to score and assist goals, more to disrupt the other team and move the team up the pitch. The 5ft 6in midfield is a similar profile midfielder to record signing Gary Medel.
Siopis is the final touch to this midfield and comes in with bags of experience and a good relationship with Erol Bulut. An unknown quantity in this division but going off his history it can only be good for The Bluebirds.
