Cardiff City have completed the loan signing of Liverpool left-back Calum Scanlon until the end of the season.

Scanlon's early days as a footballer started at boyhood club Birmingham City. Aged fifteen, Scanlon left Blues to join Premier League powerhouse Liverpool for a reported £500,000.

The left-back signed his first professional contract with The Reds aged eighteen in March 2022. Scanlon would spend the following pre-season with Liverpool's first team in Germany.

Scanlon would continue to train with the first team, and was rewarded with bench places in games, even the Mersyside Derby. Following injuries in the left-back department, Scanlon would be handed his first team debut in October 2023, in a 5-1 win in the Europa League over Toulouse.

The fullback would make a further appearance in the competition before Liverpool's elimination from the tournament. Scanlon would be rewarded with a new long-term contract in the summer of 2024.

That same summer, Scanlon completed a loan move to Millwall for the season. Due to injury struggles, Scanlon would make just four appearances for The Lions, netting once, consequently against Cardiff City.

After injury disappointment at the end of his spell with Millwall, Scanlon has spent a large part of this season in rehab, making his return to action in early January for Liverpool's U21 side.

Scanlon has now completed a six-month move to the Welsh Capital.

Some much needed depth down the left, and an option that offers a lot of quality!
