Cardiff City have completed the signing of IK Sirius striker Yousef Salech.
Yousef Salech began his footballing journey at Danish side BK Skjold. Salech would spend five years at Skjold before joining Hellerup IK.
Salech would breakthrough during the 20/21 season. At eighteen, Salech netted seven goals in his first season of senior football helping his side finish second in the 2. Division.
After an impressive season, Salech would sign his first professional contract with Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF. The Danish forward would make just two apperances in his first season at Drengene Fra Vestegnen.
Salech made six appearances at the start of the but continued to struggle. This would lead to Salech spending the 22/23 season on loan at 1. Division side HB Køge. The striker excelled at HBK, netting fifteen goals in twenty-four league appearances, this helping his side avoid relegation from the second tier.
The forward would be on the move again after a successful loan spell. Salech made the move to Belgian side S.K. Beveren. After netting on his debut for the Challenger Pro League side, Salech would fail to net again, and was recalled in February after making sixteen appearances for Red Star Haasdonk.
Salech would make three more appearances for Brøndby before making a permanent departure to Allsvenskan side IK Sirius for a reported fee of €600,000 in the winter of 2024.
The 23 year-old excelled in his season in Sweden. Salech netted thirteen in twenty-eight games, as well as setting up four goals. The Dane gained a reputation as a 'fox in the box' during his time in Sweden.
After an excellent campaign in Sweden, Salech gained interest from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb, Norwegian side Molde, Egyptian side Al Ahly and The Bluebirds.
Salech decided to join Cardiff City, signing a four and a half deal in the Welsh capital.
An interesting move and profile being added to the City forward line. Intrigued to see how he will adapt to the Championship.
