Cardiff City have confirmed the loan signing of Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo.
Cardiff City have beaten Swansea City and a whole host of other clubs to the signature of the former England youth player.
Panzo came through the Academy at Cobham and spent ten years at Premier League giants Chelsea, before making a move to France where he joined AS Monaco in 2018.
Most of Panzo's minutes at Monaco came for Le Rocher's B team as he made 22 appearances in the 2018-19 season. Panzo impressed and made his first team debut in December 2018. Panzo made one more appearance for Monaco before departing for Belgian side Cercle Brugge on loan.
Panzo made 17 appearances for Groen en Zwart and did fairly well as he attracted interest from Coventry City, Derby County and Swansea City. However, Panzo decided to join Ligue 1 side Dijon.
Panzo became an instant regular at Les Rouges as he made 22 appearances in his debut season, in a solid pairing with former Bluebird, Bruno Ecuele Manga. Panzo struggled for minutes in the 2021-22 season so a move in January was on the cards. The Bluebirds and Nottingham Forest were keen, on Deadline Day Panzo chose The Reds.
Panzo once again struggled for minutes as he only made one appearance between signing and the end of the season. Therefore, Panzo joined Championship side Coventry. Panzo made 29 appearances for the Sky Blues as he kept 14 clean sheets during his time with Coventry. Panzo was key in Coventry's play-off finalist side playing on the left-hand side of a back three.
Panzo attracted interest in the summer with Cardiff, Coventry, West Brom, Vitesse and Swansea all keen on the 22-year-old. Yesterday afternoon it appeared to be a two-horse race between Cardiff City and Swansea City, and Panzo chose The Bluebirds.
The former England U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 international will join Erol Bulut and become his ninth summer signing.
