OMER RIZA APPOINTED

Cardiff City have appointed Omer Riza as permanent First Team Manager on a deal until the end of the season.

The Bluebirds have confirmed Erol Bulut's successor to be the Turks' assistant manager Omer Riza.

Omer Riza began his coaching career as a Player/Manager at Cheshunt. Riza spent just over a year in the post before departing. Next for Riza was three month stint as Assistant Manager at Isthmian North side Heybridge Swifts.

Riza would depart to join Leyton Orient as U16'S Head Coach. After turmoil at Orient, Riza found himself as First Team Manager before the end of the season. Riza couldn't save The O's in the final weeks of the season.

Following The O's relegation, the club's new board opted against giving Riza the permanent role which saw him leave Orient. Riza would then join the England youth setup as U17's Assistant Manager a role he occupied for four years.

Riza had been working with Watford on the side, but following his departure from the young Three Lions, Riza become The Hornets' U23 manager, and would be upgraded to First Team Assistant Manager after two years in the role.

The 45 year-old left Watford after six years at the club to join Cardiff. Riza joined Erol Bulut's coaching staff to help add goals to the Cardiff City forward line. Following Bulut's dismissal in September, Riza was made Interim First Team Manager.

The 44 year-old's reign began with a 4-1 defeat at Hull. City responded with a first win of a season at home against Millwall. The Bluebirds followed that up with a six game unbeaten run, with big wins over Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth in the run.

Cardiff now find themselves in a rut, with one win in seven, and winless in five, with some cracks beginning to show, something Riza will look to put right between now and the end of the season.
