Cardiff City have completed the permanent signing of Irish international Jack Moylan from Lincoln City.
Moylan's football career started with youth side Malahide United, before completing a move to Bohemians aged fifteen. The midfielder's route through the Bohemians academy saw him win back-to-back Under-19 National League titles in 2018 and 2019, in addition to winning the Enda McGuill Cup in 2018. Moylan also gained European exposure, featuring in the UEFA Youth League, even netting in the tournament.
Aged nineteen, Moylan made his debut for Bohemians. After just eight appearances from the bench over the course of two seasons, Moylan joined second tier Irish side Wexford on loan for the 2021 campaign. After failing to breakthrough at Bohs, Moylan had even got himself a job at a local fitness studio with his hopes of making it a professional footballer fading.
Moylan then enjoyed an excellent spell at Wexford, netting eight goals in sixteen games in all competitions. Despite this, Moylan was inevitably released by Bohemians at the end of the 2021 season, with Moylan not being deemed good enough or strong enough. However, Moylan's impressive campaign with Wexford caught the eye of then Shelbourne boss, Damian Duff who snapped up Moylan in January 2022.
The move would be a match made in Heaven, as Moylan's debut season saw him net ten goals and set up two goals, helping Shelbourne to a seventh place finish. Moylan and Shels stepped up, with Moylan netting fifteen goals and setting up two in all competitions, helping Shelbourne to a fourth place finish, earning a place in the qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. The midfielder was named in the PFAI Team of the Year.
Moylan's impressive form at the Reds earned him a move across the pond to League One side Lincoln City, for a reported fee of £75,000 in January 2024. The midfielder contributed with four goals and one assist before the end of the season. Moylan registered eight goal involvements the following campaign.
At the start of the next season, Moylan suffered an ankle injury in August, ruling the Irishman out for three months after surgery. Moylan was integrated back into the squad gradually, before bursting into life in the New Year, contributing with five goal involvements in the last four games of January, seeing Moylan nominated for Player of the Month.
Moylan continued to shine for the remainder of the season, racking up twelve goals and six assists in all competitions as Lincoln City were crowned League One champions. The Irishman's fine form saw him named in the League One Team of the Season, and nominated for EFL League One Player of the Season, as well as PFA Players' Player of the Season.
The 24 year-old's fine form at club level saw him rewarded with his maiden Ireland callup in May 2026. Moylan celebrated his first cap with a hattrick against Grenada. The midfielder's second cap saw him set up an assist being sent off.
Moylan now joins The Bluebirds on a four-year deal.
