Cardiff City have completed the loan signing of Ajax midfielder Sivert Mannsverk.
Mannsverk started his football adventure at the local football club IL Jotun. It does not take long before Mannsverk moves to Årdalstangen IL, where he gets scouted by Sogndal IL, a team in the second league of Norway.
The midfielder made his senior debut for Sogndal aged seventeen. Mannsverk made eighteen appearances in his debut season, netting once. The Norwegian would be utilised as a deep-lying playmaker as well a box-to-box midfielder.
Mannsverk continued his fine form in the next season, making 27 appearances netting four goals. Despite European interest after a successful season, Mannsverk chose to stay at Sogndal for the following season.
However, after making seven appearances and netting once, Mannsverk would be on the move in January, as he joined Eliterserien side Molde.
Mannsverk would continue to improve at Molde, making 19 appearances before the end of the season, as well as making his European debut in the Conference League. The midfielder's good form led to a Norway U21 call-up.
The Norwegian became a key member at MFK for the next season, making 44 appearances in all competitions, including 12 in the Conference League. Mannsverk netted five goals and set up one, leading to a call-up to the Norwegian First Team.
Mannsverk continued to be an important member of the Molde team in the next season. The midfielder made 24 appearances in all competitions, netting three times. This led to interest from European giants Manchester United, Arsenal, Ajax, Aston Villa, Brighton, Everton, Bologna, Inter Milan and Feyenoord.
The midfielder would choose Ajax, joining de Godenzonen for a fee of €6m. However, Mannsverk would miss a large part of the season with a foot injury, limiting the midfielder to just 13 appearances in his first season in Amsterdam, netting once.
Mannsverk injury struggles continued this season, missing the first four months of the season with an ankle injury. Thee twenty-two year-old has made two appearances for Ajax, and three appearances for Jong Ajax this season.
The Norwegian now joins The Bluebirds on loan for the remainder of the season, despite interest from 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nürnberg.
Summary:
The place for Mannsverk to sort of resurrect his career and show why there was so much excitement around him early on in his career. On the base of things, he could be a great partner for Calum Chambers.
