Cardiff City have made goalkeeper Ethan Horvath their fifth signing of the January Transfer Window.
Cardiff have beaten Hull City to the signature of USA international Ethan Hovarth, as he becomes Cardiff City's second signing of the window.
Horvath spent his youth days at US Soccer Development Academy with Real Colorado, where he spent thirteen years. In his youth days Horvath trained with English clubs Stoke City, Bristol City and Manchester City.
Horvath made his first senior move to Norwegian side Molde, where he was recruited by former Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Horvath made his senior debut in May 2015. At age 20, Horvath found himself as The Blues Rascals first choice 'keeper. Horvath conceded just thirty-one goals, the second least of any 'keeper in the division that season.
Horvath became just the fifth USA goalkeeper to play in a European goalkeeper, as he featured for Molde in the Europa League, even making the Team of The Week a handful of times. His most notable performance was a 1-1 draw against Ajax where he made ten saves to give his side a valuable point.
Horvath continued to impress as he was given his first international call-up in June 2016, and later made his USA debut in October 2016.
Horvath was certainly catching the eye in Norway, and that earned him a move to Belgian side Club Brugge in January 2017. In his three years at the Belgian side, Horvath was in and out of the side. He did however play a key role in Blauw-Zwart's Champions League campaign in 2018, as he kept successive clean sheets against Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco. The arrival of Simon Mignolet in 2019 was the beginning of the end for Horvath in Belgium.
Horvath spent the last two years of his Club Brugge contract as the number two 'keeper option. Following the expiration of his contract, Horvath linked up with Steve Cooper at Championship side Nottingham Forest. Horvath played second fiddle to Brice Samba, however following the French 'keeper's injury in the play-off final, Horvath was forced to play the last few minutes as Forest confirmed their place back in the Premier League.
Following The Reds' promotion, Horvath found himself back in the Championship, this time with Luton Town. Horvath certainly regained his form from the earlier days of his career as he kept nineteen clean sheets for The Hatters, as he helped guide Luton to the club's first ever promotion to the Premier League
Nottingham Forest chose not to register the 28 year-old for the 2023/24 campaign, so there's no surprise with just six months left on his Reds deal that Horvath has decided to depart, as he joins Cardiff City.
Happy with this addition, got a good record at a good level and definitely push Alnwick even further!
