As the final International Break of the season has arrived, now feels a fair time to reflect and grade Cardiff City's January Window business.
January Transfer Window:
Cardiff began their business in mid-January with the acquisition of striker Yousef Salech from Swedish outfit IK Sirius. The Bluebirds also added Sivert Mannsverk from Ajax and WIll Alves from Leicester on loan in the closing days of the window.
Yousef Salech - A*

Not sure it could've gone much better. Six goals in fourteen, starting just half of those games. Has taken to the nature of the Championship like a duck to water, adjusting to the physicality and pace very quickly. Salech just has the knack of being in the right place at the right time, and is clinical. His movement is excellent and his contests really well, winning the majority of duels, especially in the air. Even in his first few months at Cardiff, Salech has improved, which makes for an exciting future for the forward.
Sivert Mannsverk - B

On the whole Mannsverk has been a solid addition. Adding a bit of grit and steel in midfield, as well as showing his good skills on the ball through his strong ball-carrying and impressive passing range. Has ebbed and flowed a bit, but there's no denying when Mannsverk is playing well he's a huge asset. Another who has settled fairly quick in the Championship and isn't afraid to mix it.
Will Alves - A

The type of winger Cardiff have cried out for years. Direct and quick. Refreshing to see a fearless winger who just runs at his man, but also has the technical ability to beat a man. There's been a steady improvement in his final ball in Alves' seven games, contributing with two assists in his last four. Growing into his role and looks a special talent.
Summary:
If this was a test for Omer Riza's future recruitment style then he has passed with flying colours. Three additions that have already contributed heavily since joining, and there's no doubt all three will play crucial roles in the final eight games of the season.
