FIVE STAR PERFORMANCE FROM BLUEBIRDS

Cardiff City ran out 5-0 winners over Plymouth Argyle this afternoon to lift The Bluebirds off the bottom of the table.

Anwar El Ghazi and Rubin Colwill celebrating.

Argyle should've been one up inside the first ten minutes, as Michael Obafemi missed a golden chance from close range.

Alex Robertson broke the deadlock after a quarter of an hour, with a well-placed effort from distance to put City in front.

Rubin Colwill soon doubled City's lead. The 22 year-old held off his man before slotting his effort past Dan Grimshaw.

Cardiff started the second half as they were meaning to go on. After good work from Rubin Colwill, Anwar El Ghazi was at the back post to slot home his first Cardiff goal.

A quick fire double from Callum Robinson and Chris Willock confirmed all three points for Omer Riza's Bluebirds.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (7.5) - Granted didn't have a great deal to do, didn't put a foot wrong. Distribution was good.

Perry Ng (8) - Ng doing Ng things. Orchestrated things down the right side, working well with Tanner. Also had Cissoko on strings.

Dimitrios Goutas (7.5) - Dominant performance. Composed on the ball and just continued his good form.

Calum Chambers (7.5) - Getting better each week. Another solid performance this afternoon. Good on the ball.

Callum O'Dowda (8) - Bold call to go with O'Dowda, but boy did it pay off. An energetic performance where he got forward with purpose. Set the standard, now time to kick on.

David Turnbull (7.5) - Another bold call, but another that payed off. Just a classy performance all-round. Glad to see Turnbull being used correctly.

Alex Robertson (10) MOTM - What can I say? One of the best midfield performances I've seen at the CCS. An excellent goal. But that wasn't it, continued to boss the game, and ultimately was the root of Cardiff's excellent performance.

Rubin Colwill (10) MOTM - Wow. Just wow. Finally starting to get the numbers his performances have deserved for a long time. A well taken goal, as well as two well worked assists. A special special player.

Ollie Tanner (7.5) - Deserved something for his efforts. Another who just continued his fine form. Ran Bumba ragged down the right, and came close on a few occasions. Worked well with the usual's Colwill and Ng.

Anwar El Ghazi (7.5) - Relived to see El Ghazi off the mark in blue, he won't get many easier chances but you have to be in the right place at the right time. Fairly quiet game outside of that, got in some good areas.

Callum Robinson (8) - Glad Robbo got the goal he thoroughly deserved, a really well taken goal as well. Touching tribute for George Baldock as well.

Subs:

Chris Willock (8) - Another I'm relived for. Been a topsy turvy start for Willock, but today he showed what he was about. A great assist to find Robbo as well as a really well taken goal.

Andy Rinomhota (7) - Came on and shored things up well. A confident performance from Rino.

Yakou Meite (6) - A quiet cameo.

Wilfried Kanga (6) - The only thing missing from today to make it perfect, was a Kanga goal. He had his chance as well. Looked fairly energetic today, feel like something will come under Riza.

Joel Bagan (7) - Another who came on and shored things up. Reads the game so well.

Summary:

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Watching a team just enjoying playing their football. They've set the standards now. Riza got it spot on, definitely a contender now.
