Cardiff City have confirmed Erol Bulut has been relieved of his duties following The Bluebirds' winless start to the season.
Erol Bulut took charge of Cardiff City in June 2023, as a somewhat of an unknown quantity, The Bluebirds were written off by most before the beginning of the season.
Bulut's first City win came against Sheffield Wednesday with a last minute penalty from Ryan Wintle.
Bulut would follow that up with a first South Wales Derby home win in ten years, as the Turk guided The Bluebirds to a 2-0 win against bitter rivals Swansea City, with goals from Ollie Tanner and Aaron Ramsey.
More wins would follow, leading to Bulut being nominated for Manager of the Month in September, following City's best start to the season in seven years.
Inconsistency would hit during a hectic festive schedule, but The Bluebirds still came away with key wins against Preston, Millwall, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday.
After a busy January Transfer Window, City continued to struggle into the new year. Before a turn in form during late February.
Cardiff would win four games on the spin against Stoke, Bristol City, Huddersfield and a dramatic win against Ipswich Town. This would see City creep into play-off contention late on into the season.
However, a South Wales Derby defeat would derail The Bluebirds. Cardiff won just three games between the middle of March and the end of the season.
Bulut would be rewarded with a new two year deal in the summer, as well as backed financially in the Transfer Market. Expectations were high ahead of the season amongst the fan base, but after four defeats in City's difficult opening five games, Erol Bulut would inevitably be sacked in September 2024.
Conclusion:
Ultimately the right decision at this moment in time. A big fan of Erol Bulut as a person, as he made a conscious effort to make this football club enjoyable to support, and he provided some great memories during his year or so in charge, but ultimately I think at this moment in time it's right for both parties to part.
