Cardiff City have completed the signing of Norwegian defender Jesper Daland from Cercle Brugge.
Daland began his youth career with FK Vigør. The defender would go on to make seven appearances for 'The Talent Factory', before making a move to Stabæk in 2016.
De Blaa however chose not to offer Daland a professional deal. The 19 year-old would sign with Norwegian side IK Start in 2019. Daland missed the entirety of his first season at IK Start with a knee injury.
Daland would make his debut for IK Start in June 2020. The defender impressed in his debut season at IK Start, and went onto win IK Start Young Player of the Year award in January 2021. This form would see Daland selected for Norway's U21 side.
After an impressive first full senior campaign, Daland would make the move to Belgian side Cercle Brugge.
Daland has enjoyed a successful three years at Cercle Brugge, making 118 apperances in all competitions. The Norwegian defender has built a great rapport with the Groen en Zwart supporters, with his athletic and passionate style winning over the fans.
Daland appeared set for a move to Monaco in 2023, after spending the World Cup break training and playing a friendly for Rouges et blancs, however a deal wasn't completed.
The 24 year-old has been linked with Monaco again this summer, as well as Serie A outfit Torino and La Liga side Sevilla. However, The Bluebirds have struck a deal with the defender, with Daland joining City on a four year deal.
On paper this seems a really exciting signing, and if he can hit the ground running it could be The Bluebirds' signing of the summer.
