The Bluebirds remain on the road as they travel to face Doncaster Rovers.

The Opposition:
After a strong start to their return to League One, Doncaster have struggled for consistency and find themselves firmly in the relegation battle ahead of the final months of the season.
McCann favours a 4-2-3-1 system with high-tempo, front-foot football, aggressive pressing, and attacking full-backs. When effective they can sustain pressure and create chances, but the approach often leaves them exposed defensively, particularly on transitions. Cardiff’s superior squad quality should allow them to exploit these spaces, though Doncaster are capable of causing upsets if their energy and confidence click.
Rovers sit eighteenth ahead of kick off and could move as high as thirteenth with a victory.
The Bluebirds:
City come into this one on the back of a heavy defeat against Plymouth Argyle. Despite Omari Kellyman’s brace, Argyle blew Cardiff out of the water netting five and cruising past The Bluebirds.
Barry-Murphy’s side can target Doncaster’s defensive vulnerabilities with quick switches into wide areas and by exploiting space left by advanced full-backs. The Bluebirds’ two-plus-one midfield structure should also help them control the tempo and capitalise on transitions, while set pieces provide another potential threat against a Rovers side that has struggled to deal with crosses in recent games.
Opposition Player to Watch:

Luke Molyneux came through Sunderland’s academy, had a loan spell at Gateshead, and then a permanent move to Hartlepool. He then settled at Doncaster after joining permanently in June 2022. Since then, he has become the club’s chief creative and scoring outlet. He played a pivotal role in Doncaster’s 2024/25 League Two title-winning campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists, earning the Golden Boot and multiple awards.
Known for his pace, direct dribbling, intelligent movement, and a dangerous left foot, Molyneux has already contributed three goals and four assists in 18 league appearances this season. Cardiff will need to keep him under close watch, as he is capable of turning games on his own.
Last Meeting:
Cardiff City 4-3 Doncaster Rovers (2025)

The last clash between those two sides was a highly entertaining encounter, with City edging it with a ninety-ninth minute winner.
Owen Bailey gave the visitors the lead after quarter of an hour, before Omari Kellyman levelled things. Cian Ashford put City ahead, however it was cancelled out by a close range Brandon Hanlan strike just before half-time. City regained the lead as Yousef Salech’s sweeping effort beat Thimothee Lo-Tutala in the Doncaster goal. Harry Clifton got the visitors back on level terms before Joe Bagan netted at the death to seal all three points for Cardiff.
Team News:
Cardiff City - Yousef Salech out with a personal issue. David Turnbull and Eli King miss out with injury.
Doncaster Rovers - Harry Clifton, Zander Clark, Ben Close and Jack Senior back available for the hosts. Sean Grehan and Frankie Okoronkwo out injured.
Preferred XI:
GK - Nathan Trott
RB - Perry Ng
RCB - Gabriel Osho
LCB - Dylan Lawlor
LB - Calum Scanlon
CDM - Ryan Wintle
CM - Alex Robertson
CAM - Joel Colwill
RW - Ollie Tanner
LW - Isaak Davies
ST - Omari Kellyman
Score Prediction:
Doncaster Rovers 2-2 Cardiff City
I anticipate another close encounter with neither side being able to find a breakthrough.
