Cardiff City made it eight home wins in a row, as they beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 this afternoon.

Calum Chambers celebrating.
Calum Chambers celebrating.

Player Ratings:

Nathan Trott (7) - Made an excellent reflex save in the first half, and had little to do in the second half. Distribution was decent.

Perry Ng (7.5) - Yet another positive performance. Defended well and effective in possession. Worked well with Ashford.

Dylan Lawlor (7.5) - Another dominating performance, giving Wigan no sniff in the final third. Physically strong and real good on the ball, also.

Calum Chambers (9) MOTM - Exceptional. Not only a stunning goal but ran things for Cardiff. Some first-class balls to Cian Ashford and carried the ball really well. Defensively solid, also. The peak of what's been an amazing season so far for Chambers.

Joel Bagan (8) - Slotted back in perfectly. Read the game extremely well. Will have Chambers to thank for an assist to his name. On the ball, did really well and defensively was alert and solid.

Ryan Wintle (8) - Affected the game quietly but effectively. Stopped one real dangerous Wigan breakaway. In possession, immense. Intense and good out of possession.

Alex Robertson (8) - The orchestrator on the left, working excellently with Willock. Some top footwork and worked hard out of possession. Another positive showing.

Omari Kellyman (6.5) - Had a handful of good chances, and came close. Quiet for the majority of the game, but when involved was tidy.

Cian Ashford (8) - Another real positive showing on Ashford's return to the side. Some top draw first touches in behind his man. Carried the ball well and put in some dangerous deliveries. Worked hard out of possession.

Chris Willock (8) - Exceptional with the ball at his feet, it's almost glued to his feet at times. Another sharp showing, worked hard out of possession, also. Carried the ball well and looked a constant threat.

Yousef Salech (6.5) - Was never really in the game, except for a half chance in the second half. Link-up play was good, again.

Subs:

Callum Robinson (6.5) - Added energy to the final third in the last twenty minutes, and came close. Sharp cameo.

Ollie Tanner (7) - A major improvement from Thursday. Worked well with Ng. Looked sharp, getting in behind well and almost getting a City goal through an own goal.

Will Fish (N/A)

Summary:

A thoroughly enjoyable Cardiff City performance. So many positives to take ahead of a huge few weeks!
