CATCHING UP WITH ROHAN LUTHRA

I caught up with Cardiff City goalkeeper Rohan Luthra, as we discuss Rohan's recent loan spell, making history and his future.

Catching Up with Rohan Luthra.

Last season, you became the first goalkeeper of South Asian descent to play in the Championship, describe that feeling and pride of that moment.

It was an amazing feeling, one that’s very hard to put into words. It’s definitely something I’ll remember forever and my family and I are very proud to be a record holder for such an achievement.

You spent the first half of the season on loan at Slough Town, how did that go for you?

Slough was a very good experience for me, I was lucky to have a good manager in Scott Davies and brilliant coaching staff behind him. I think the character I am I’ll get on with the boys in most changing rooms and the boys there definitely made it easy for me. On the pitch was positive for me and and the stats back it up. I’m hoping to use that experience to help me progress in the future.

What goalkeeper would you say your most similar to and why?

I don’t really know to be honest. I think everyone’s different in their own way, I’d love to be able to say Neuer though!

In your short career so far, you’ve faced set backs, how do you overcome that?

I’ve faced setbacks but I am not naive enough to think that I am the only person who has suffered the similar experiences. I am lucky to have a supportive family and people around me who have guided me through the tough moments. I know now these moments don’t define you, it’s how you come back from it that does.

Who’s the best player you’ve come up against in training since joining Cardiff City?

There’s a few that come to mind, Rallsy does it right day in day out. Romaine constantly shows his class, when I first joined I think I done a or two session with Lee Tomlin and he was also class on those days. Rubin’s got a tiny bit sometimes.

What are your short term and long term goals in your career?

I think for me in the short term I just want to get as many games under my belt as possible and keep growing and keep learning as a goalkeeper. Long term obviously everyone wants to play in the Premier League but I just want to reach my potential and be consistent, whether that takes me 2 years or 10 years I’ll keep working hard.

What does the future hold for Rohan Luthra with your deal up at the end of the season; are you keen to stay and keep progressing with Cardiff?

Football is a strange world. I’d love to continue my journey with Cardiff as I’ve grown very fond of the football club and also the city and because I believe I could keep taking steps in the right direction for my career. Let’s see what the future holds!

Big thank you to Rohan for taking time to answer the questions; looking forward to seeing you push for the first team!
