Cardiff City are back on the road as they travel to the ACCU Stadium to face Huddersfield Town.

The Opposition:

After plenty of pre-season anticipation, Huddersfield have struggled to live up to expectations. With The Terriers in a fight for the play-offs in the remaining weeks of the season.

Liam Manning will not be on the touchline as he's on compassionate leave for the remainder of the season, meaning his coaching staff will lead the reigns until the end of the campaign. Manning's sides typically enjoy free-flowing attacking football. The 40 year-old has a possession-based style with the creativity coming from a triangle three in midfield. With the ball they are predominantly a possession based team, with measured build-up, but are not a pass for passing’s sake team, they don’t overplay, but are comfortable waiting for their opportunities. They are not a high-press team. But they are effective in a mid-block and trigger their press efficiently.

Huddersfield sit eighth ahead of kick-off, and could move up to seventh with victory in this one.

The Bluebirds:

City come into this one on the back of a paramount 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers. A quick-fire double from Omari Kellyman and Chris Willock leaves City requiring just four points to confirm an instant return to the Championship.

City could disrupt Huddersfield by using quick positional rotations and vertical passing to disrupt Manning’s structured, possession-heavy build-up before it settles. Aggressive pressing in midfield and fast transitions into wide areas can exploit gaps left by Manning’s attacking shape and catch his team off balance.

Opposition Player to Watch:

Marcus Harness celebrating.
Marcus Harness celebrating.

Marcus Harness has a proven track record in the EFL, and has shown glimpses throughout the season for The Terriers. Harness is a direct, high-energy winger who thrives on quick runs in behind, aggressive pressing, and driving at defenders to create chances or score.

The forward's career started with Burton Albion. Harness had loan moves at Ilkeston, Aldershot Town and Port Vale before completing a permanent move to Portsmouth. After a successful three-year stint at Pompey, Harness joined Ipswich Town. Harness helped The Tractor Boys secure back-to-back promotions. A loan move to Derby County came before a permanent move to Huddersfield in the summer. Harness has contributed with six goals and five assists in all competitions so far this season.

Last Meeting:

Cardiff City 3-2 Huddersfield Town (2025)

Yousef Salech celebrating.

It was an entertaining affair in the Welsh Capital back in December, with The Bluebirds running out victorious.

Yousef Salech gave City an early lead, before Leo Castledine equalised for the visitors with a well-struck effort from outside the box. Salech would add another before setting up Isaak Davies for a third goal. Despite a Joe Taylor goal late on, Cardiff sealed all three points.

Team News:

Cardiff City - Gabriel Osho back available. Isaak Davies and Eli King remains out injured.

Huddersfield Town - Late decisions to be made on Lee Nicholls and Lynden Gooch. Jack Whatmough a doubt. Cameron Ashia and Ryan Hardie out for the hosts.

Preferred XI:

GK - Nathan Trott

RB - Perry Ng

RCB - Gabriel Osho

LCB - Dylan Lawlor

LB - Joel Bagan

CDM - Ryan Wintle

CM - Alex Robertson

CAM - Joel Colwill

RW - Ollie Tanner

LW - Chris Willock

ST - Omari Kellyman

Score Prediction:

Huddersfield Town 0-3 Cardiff City

Cardiff come into this one on the back of a high, and I can see them seeing off Huddersfield and taking a huge step towards promotion this week.
