CARDIFF LOOK TO BUILD ON FINISH TO 2024

Cardiff City host Frank Lampard's Coventry in The Bluebirds' first game of 2025.

Callum Robinson celebrating.

Coventry had a slow start to the season which led to shock sacking of long-serving manager Mark Robins after almost eight years in charge. Ex-Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was chose as Robins' successor. Lampard has overseen seven games so far, winning four, drawing one and losing two.

Over the seasons, Frank Lampard's style of play has been flexible in formation choice, but in the earlier days of his managerial career, he would tend to switch between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations. During his time at Derby and his first spell at Chelsea, his sides were possession-heavy and were known for fluid attacking movements.

Lampard would look to create a balance in the attacking phases and utilise the width of the pitch. There's a heavy impetuous on crosses into the box.

Coventry come into this one 15th in the table and could move into the top half if they win this fixture.

The Bluebirds:

Cardiff come into this one on the back of their first away win of the season. A first-half brace from Callum Robinson was enough to see off a Watford side who were unbeaten at home since March before City's visit.

Cardiff will look to build on their victory last time out. Riza returned to a back four and City came on leaps and bounds, something they’ll look to continue against Coventry.

Team News:

Cardiff City - Chris Willock and Callum O'Dowda came off with knocks against Watford, so it remains to be seen their availability for this one. Aaron Ramsey, Isaak Davies, Kion Etete and David Turnbull remain out.

Coventry City - Ephron Mason-Clarke, Haji Wright and Ben Wilson out for the visitors.

Preferred XI:

GK - Jak Alnwick

RB - Andy Rinomhota

RCB - Dimitrios Goutas

LCB - Jesper Daland

LB - Callum O’Dowda

RDM - Calum Chambers

LDM - Manolis Siopis

CAM - Alex Robertson

RW - Cian Ashford

LW - Chris Willock

ST - Callum Robinson

Prediction:

Cardiff City 0-0 Coventry City

Two pretty blunt teams in the final third, I could see this one ending goalless.
