Cardiff City were forced to settle for a point after a late equaliser from Coventry.

Alex Robertson celebrating.

Yakou Meite gave Cardiff an early lead. Yak met a pinpoint cross from Alex Robertson and headed past Brandon Collins.

Coventry were quick to peg City back. Sakamoto lofted a ball in behind, and Ephron Mason-Clarke finished from close range to equal the game.

Both sides had chances before half-time. The Bluebirds worked the ball to Callum Robinson who flashed a ball across the box, the ball fell to Meite who struck just wide. Norman Bassette went close from point blank range but Jak Alnwick was equal to it.

The Bluebirds were back in front early in the second half through a wonder strike from Alex Robertson. Rubin Colwill layed the ball, and the oncoming Robertson thumped an effort from distance into the bottom corner.

Coventry were gifted a late penalty that was finished by Victor Torp into the bottom left. The late goal confirmed the two sides would share the points.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (6.5) - Feel Alnwick could do better on the first goal by getting down a little quicker. Made some vital saves outside of that.

Perry Ng (6.5) - Caught caught out for another goal. Got forward well and defended well outside of the goal.

Dimitrios Goutas (6) - Also caught out for the first goal. Strong in the air and some nice passes to break the lines.

Calum Chambers (6) - Unfortunate for a second game running. Not sure how a penalty can be given when Chambers' arm is in a natural position for a player blocking a ball. Outside of that had a fairly composed game.

Jamilu Collins (7) - Took some time to get going, but once JC grew into the game, he was strong. Some vital challenges on the edge of the box.

Alex Robertson (8.5) MOTM - What is there left to say about Robertson? A great cross for the first goal, and a finish the opposition manager would've been proud of. Reads the game so well.

Manolis Siopis (6.5) - Grew into the game after an average first half. Got his body in the way and won the ball a few times to relieve pressure.

David Turnbull (6.5) - A tidy showing, linked well with Meite down the right. Hopefully injury isn't too serious.

Yakou Meite (8) - One of Meite's best performance for City. A well-taken goal and worked hard outside of that. Could've scored a few more as well. A message sent with the celebration as well.

Callum O'Dowda (6) - A fairly quiet afternoon for O'Dowda down the left. Dealt with things defensively, with a few nice bursts from deep up the pitch.

Callum Robinson (5.5) - A day where things just didn't fall for Robbo. Got in some good areas, just final touch/delivery was a bit off this afternoon.

Subs:

Rubin Colwill (7.5) - Worked so hard off the ball and won the ball back or won a free kick on several occasions. Comes away with an assist as well.

Michael Reindorf (6.5) - Finally! Worked hard when he came on and got in some decent areas. Coped well out of possession as well.

Joel Bagan (6) - Wasn't called into a great deal of action defensively. Calm as ever on the ball.

Ollie Tanner (N/A)

Andy Rinomhota (N/A)

Summary:

A bittersweet one. Promising performance but snatched away late on.
