As the season has finished, now is a good time to reflect and have deeper dive on those who were away from the club this season got on at their respective clubs, as they set to return to the club this summer.

Ryan Wintle - Millwall

Wintle wad a squad player at The Den this season, appearing twenty-three times in all competitions. The 27 year-old contributed with one goal in a draw against Sheffield Wednesday. The midfielder made just three starts in all competitions, not featuring in fairly large parts of the season. Wintle did play in the last few games of the season after a fairly long absence. The City midfielder's last full game came in early November. Wintle now returns with one year left on his City deal, after a fairly disappointing spell at The Lions.

Ryotaro Tsunoda - KV Kortrijk

Tsunoda yet again impressed in Belgium. The defender contributed to Kortrijk's late spell of good form, but couldn't save De Kerels from the drop. The 25 year-old was utilised on the left side of a back two and centrally in a back three, two roles the Japanese defender hasn't typically been used in. Another successful spell for Tsunoda, as he returns to City with a year left on his deal.

Kion Etete - Bolton Wanderers

Etete's injury struggles continued at Bolton, and therefore the 23 year-old failed to gain any momentum at The Trotters. The striker played just seventy-three minutes of football, with five late substitute appearances. With two years left on his City deal, Etete returns after a disastrous spell with an important summer ahead for the striker.

Eli King - Stevenage

The 22 year-old has another successful spell away from the club. After a slow start at Stevenage, King sprung into life in late October and became a main-stay in Alex Revell's side. King made thirty-three appearances in all competitions, contributing with one goal and three assists. Another who returns with one year left on his Bluebirds deal, and has a big season ahead.

Joel Colwill - Cheltenham Town/Exeter City

Colwill returns to The Bluebirds on the back of his breakout season. After catching the eye in League Two, the midfielder made the step up to League One for the second half of the season. In the first half of the season, the 20 year-old goal contributed with twelve goals in twenty-eight games for Cheltenham. The Cymru U21 international then made a move to Exeter City, where he had a mixed spell. Colwill played nineteen games, starting eight of those, and played a variety of positions. The City academy product now returns from a positive season with three years left on his Cardiff deal, and plenty to be excited about.

Michael Reindorf - Bristol Rovers

After a sharp start at Bristol Rovers, Reindorf was absent from the Matchday squad for the majority of his spell, playing just four games for The Gas. The forward did make a return on the final day, but by then Rovers' relegation from League One had been confirmed. Another whose loan spell didn't go as planned.

Kieron Evans - Newport County

Evans enjoyed a fairly good spell at Newport. Operating out wide before being moved into the centre of midfield, where he seemingly played well. The 23 year-old made thirty-eight appearances in all competitions, contributing with six goal contributions. The forward's future is up in the air, with his City deal up this summer.

Academy Loans:

From the last time we assessed how the loanees have been getting on, Baylin Johnson, Joe Thomas and Jake Dennis failed to make an appearance for their respective clubs.

Summary:

A real mixed bag. Some beneficial loans for some, with valuable experience gained, and not so good for others, almost coming across as a waste of time.
