The Bluebirds beat rivals Bristol City 2-0 with goals from Perry Ng and Rubin Colwill.

Cardiff City celebrating Perry Ng's goal.

The visitors started the brightest as Harry Cornick saw his effort go just wide after four minutes. However, The Bluebirds grew after The Robins' early chances as a cross from Jamilu Collins almost resulted in an own goal as Mark Sykes' pass back was inches wide of the post.

After just over half an hour a corner from Joe Ralls was met by Perry Ng who made it two in two and put The Bluebirds in the lead going into the break. Bristol City started the second half the brighter of both sides but had nothing to show for it. Rubin Colwill was introduced in the 57th minute and made an instant impact.

After the introduction of Colwill, The Bluebirds were back on top. Ollie Tanner found himself in behind The Robins' defence but couldn't find the right pass. Another corner in the 90th minute saw the ball fall to Jamilu Collins who played the ball to Colwill who beat two Bristol City men before cannoning the ball into the roof of the net and sealing The Bluebirds all three points.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (7) - Made an impressive long-range save. A quiet afternoon altogether but I thought his kicking was much better this week, long may that continue.

Perry Ng (8) MOTM - What a player. Took his goal well with a great header. Kept a very good player in Sam Bell quiet. Offers so much to the side both offensively and defensively.

Dimitrios Goutas (7) - Not the best start but thought he grew into the game. On the ball composed as ever. Made some key tackles and interceptions.

Mark McGuinness (7) - Pretty quiet afternoon for Macca. Wasn't forced into many defensive actions but when he was he was solid as ever.

Jamilu Collins (7) - Kept an experienced forward Andreas Weimann quiet and practically anonymous. Felt he offered us more offensively than we've seen so far this season.

Manolis Siopis (7.5) - Always in the right place at the right time. Went about his work quietly but he was very effective, kept things simple and it worked.

Joe Ralls (7.5) - A huge reason we're now such a threat at set pieces, his deliveries are quality. Held his own against a good player in Taylor Gardner-Hickman. Thought he linked well with Robbo and Grant.

Callum Robinson (7) - Picked up where he left off in midweek. Most chances came through him in the first half. Saw how well him and Grant can linkup, just seemed they knew where each other was at all times.

Karlan Grant (7.5) - Thought Grant was really good in the first half, gave James hell down that left-hand side. Quietened down in the second half but was a constant threat with his pace.

Josh Bowler (6.5) - A relatively quiet afternoon for Bowler. Most of The Bluebirds' best work came down the other side meaning he didn't have much of the ball. Was decent when he did get the ball.

Yakou Meite (7) - Such a big player for us. He can run a backline and links up well with the winger and attacking midfielder. Was unfortunate at times but he works so hard, he is so important to this team if he can stay fit.

Subs:

Rubin Colwill (8) - Super sub. What an impact he made and took his goal so well. We saw the best side of Colwill, something we now have to see on a more consistent basis. Shut a few up with that goal.

Ryan Wintle (6) - Didn't do much. Lost the ball once or twice.

Ollie Tanner (7) - Callum Pring just couldn't deal with him. Got in behind a few times and just needs more composure to pick the right pass.

Ike Ugbo (6.5) - Relatively quiet but one or two nice pieces of linkup. Pressing was solid as well.

Mahlon Romeo (N/A) - One or two nice bits of defending.

Summary

A comfortable victory in the end for The Bluebirds who have risen to fifth in the Championship table. The players and fans are connected again and that's all down to Erol Bulut who united the club.

The Bluebirds now travel to 11th place Stoke City.
