Cardiff City were forced to settle for a point in the Severnside Derby this afternoon.

Ollie Tanner in action against Bristol City.

The Robins started the more lively of the two sides, as Sinclair Armstrong came close with two efforts, one of which forced a save from Jak Alnwick.

City should have been ahead on the twentieth minute mark, as Anwar El Ghazi found himself unmarked in the sic yard box, however failed to get a good connection on the ball as his effort clipped the post.

Ten minutes into the second half, The Bluebirds broke the deadlock. A brilliant edge of the box effort from Ollie Tanner beat Max O'Leary in the Bristol City goal.

Ollie Tanner should've had a second not long later, as the forward fired a=high and wide from close range. Rubin Colwill was next to try his luck, Colwill failed to hit the target from point blank range.

The hosts would make City rue the missed chances, as Luke McNally levelled things up with a powerful header at the back post.

Both sides were made to settle for a point in the first Severnside Derby on the season.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (6) - Didn't have a great deal to do all game. Not much I feel Alnwick can do for the goal. Distribution was ok.

Perry Ng (7.5) - A lot was asked of Ng defensively, and I think he coped fairly well. Perhaps could do a little bit better for the goal, however has come on leaps and bounds in the last two games.

Dimitrios Goutas (6.5) - Struggled early on against Armstrong, however seemed to settle and went onto have a decent game. Strong aerial display.

Calum Chambers (7) - On a whole probably thought that was Chambers' best game for City. Had one or two of his moments, but outside of that was fairly solid, as well as a brilliant block to deny Bristol City late on.

Joel Bagan (7) - Picking up where he left off against Millwall. A great defensive showing. Also made some decent runs going forward, but unfortunately was found.

Alex Robertson (7) - Looked after the ball really well with a neat and tidy performances. Looks a better signing week after week.

Joe Ralls (6) - Allowed Bristol City a lot of room. Lacked the intensity needed at time. Set piece delivery was also poor. However, was fairly good on the ball.

Rubin Colwill (8) - Really ran the show for City, and Bristol City really struggled to get near him. Probably should've had one goal if not two, but on a whole was exciting to watch.

Ollie Tanner (8) MOTM - Mr. Derby Day himself. A brilliant goal and one Tanner deserved for his effort all game. Would be disappointed not to have scored another. A real positive showing, as well as a strong defensive performance.

Anwar El Ghazi (6.5) - Really think El Ghazi should be scoring that chance. Point blank range, really needs to score. Outside of that, made some decent runs and showed some glimpses.

Callum Robinson (6.5) - Worked hard and defended well from the front. Made a couple of half chances for himself, but on a whole a decent showing again from Robbo.

Subs:

Jesper Daland (6.5) - A strange substitution, however another solid showing from Daland. Looked calm and prepared to carry the ball out.

Callum O'Dowda (5.5) - Ultimately needed to do better for the goal, just trying to be too cute, Outside of that, was ok.

Andy Rinomhota (6.5) - Another solid showing in the late stages of a game. Energetic and on a whole did his job well.

Wilfired Kanga (6) - Meh

Manolis Siopis (6.5) - Made up for his own mistakes well and added a bit of energy.

Yakou Meite (N/A)

Summary:

Feels like two points dropped after controlling a good chunk of the game. Some exciting signs, now time to bring in a manager that brings it all together nicely.
