Brendan Aaronson gave the hosts an early lead. Dan James rounded Jak Alnwick and squared it to the American who finished to start a long afternoon for The Bluebirds. Manor Solomon soon doubled the hosts' lead from close range.
The Whites netted a third just after half-time through James, another cross came in and the Welsh winger was unmarked at the back post and tapped into an empty net.
Leeds had a penalty, as Callum O'Dowda clattered James from behind. Joel Piroe slotted into the bottom left to make it four for the hosts. Subsitute Wilfried Gnonto soon made it five, as the Italian cut in from the right and slotted past Alnwick.
A quick fire double from Mateo Joseph and Piroe in the dying moments of the game ended an embarrassing day in the history of Cardiff City.
Player Ratings:
Jak Alnwick (2) - What else can you give to a keeper who's shipped seven? Rounded for the first, should do better for the fifth. Didn't command his area and failed to come for any crosses.
Andy Rinomhota (3) - Started okay, then Solomon got going and Rinomhota didn't stand a chance, not helped by a yellow picked up as well. Difficult afternoon.
Dimitrios Goutas (6) MOTM - Probably one of the only one's that can come away with his head held high. Was equal to a lot of what Leeds threw at Cardiff in the air. Coped okay in difficult circumstances.
Jesper Daland (3.5) - Difficult to rate Daland, because he didn't do much, which isn't a good thing, really. Was okay on the ball, but barely noticed his presence.
Callum O'Dowda (2) - Torn apart from the word go. Dan James had O'Dowda on ice. Gave away a penalty as well.
Calum Chambers (3.5) - Just got overwhelmed on the ball and constantly got robbed of possession. He did try, but struggled.
Joe Ralls (3.5) - Same as Daland really. Given Leeds' success through the middle, Ralls being anonymous was a bad thing. Just didn't lay a glove on anyone.
Alex Robertson (4) - Battled hard but was just sloppy on the ball. Came the closest for Cardiff with a long range effort.
Cian Ashford (3) - Got in some great areas but the final ball just lacked quality. Struggled against an excellent Firpo.
Anwar El Ghazi (5) - Started bright and direct. Quietened down once Leeds took major control then became fairly anonymous.
Callum Robinson (4.5) - Didn't have an impact on the game, granted had the near impossible task of being a lone striker in this team.
Subs:
Yousef Salech (5) - Got in and amongst it but failed to impact the game.
Joel Bagan (4) - One or two decent defensive things.
Sivert Mannsverk (5) - A couple of decent flashes.
Perry Ng (4) - Caught out for one of the goals. Didn't add much.
Will Fish (N/A)
Summary:
Unacceptable and embarrassing. Players need to be held accountable.
