Cardiff were forced to settle for a point as they drew 2-2 with Plymouth Argyle at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The Bluebirds had a bright start as Yakou Meite headed wide from a corner after six minutes.
Cardiff payed the price for not making the most of their dominance as Morgan Whittaker gave The Pilgrims the lead after eighteen minutes.
Plymouth should've doubled their lead not long after as Collins was caught out on the left hand side, but, Kaine Kesler-Hayden failed to keep his effort on target.
Etete and Ng had efforts saved by Hazard in the Plymouth goal. The Bluebirds were level on the half an hour mark as a mistake from Matt Butcher saw the ball end up in the back of his own net.
The Bluebirds took the lead early in the second half after a brilliant strike from Karlan Grant. Collins found himself in behind quarter of an hour later, however, he failed to control the ball in the Plymouth box.
Cardiff made a triple substitution, a decision that had the opposite effect on the game Erol Bulut would've been hoping for. Plymouth didn't long equalise through Morgan Whittaker after calamitous defending fron Cardiff.
Plymouth should've gone in front not long later, as Bali Mumba hit the post despite looking easier to score.
Cardiff also had a chance to win it late on as the ball fell to Ryan Wintle just six yards out, he couldn't beat Hazard in The Pilgrims goal. The game ended all square.
Player Ratings:
Jak Alnwick (6.5) - Made some good saves to deny Plymouth. Kicking improved significantly. Not much he could do for either goal.
Jamilu Collins (4) - Really struggled against Morgan Whittaker, didn't really get near him all afternoon. Caught out countless times and poor going forward.
Mark McGuinness (5) - Lucky not to have payed the price when he lost the ball halfway in his own half. No urgency when Macca is on the ball. Caught in no mans land for the first. Let's Whittaker walk past him and ball watches for the second.
Dimitrios Goutas (6) - Didn't cover himself in glory but definitely wasn't the worst at the back. Made some key challenges but was also beaten too easily at times. Slow on the ball today.
Perry Ng (5.5) - Due to a lot of the ball being down Collins' side, Ng didn't see too much action, but, when he was forced into action he was beaten often by Miller and Mumba. Decent going forward. Strange back pass, almost cost us a goal, also a poor clearance almost led to Mumba winning the game.
Ryan Wintle (7) - The brightest I've seen Wintle all season. Made some great recoveries and broke the Plymouth lines. Encouraging performance.
Joe Ralls (6.5) - Did his job and did it well. Was in and out of the game but was solid enough when he was on the pitch. A few good deliveries.
Rubin Colwill (8) - Ran the show in attack. Broke the Plymouth lines with ease, just a shame others couldn't make the most of some great chances he made. Good defensively as well.
Karlan Grant (8.5) MOTM - Plymouth just couldn't deal with Grant. An excellent finish gave him the goal he deserved for his performance. Delivery improved significantly. Always giving 110%.
Yakou Meite (6.5) - Caused Plymouth a few issues, mainly in the air. Struggled slightly against an impressive Miller, however, was still a threat.
Kion Etete (7) - Ran the Plymouth back line really well. One or two half chances so not much to shout about. Ball control is really impressive for someone of his size. Hopefully starts against Leicester.
Subs:
Josh Bowler (6) - Brought some energy to the game, however, struggled to find any rhythm going forward.
Ollie Tanner (5) - Struggled on the left. Silly things like miss controlling the ball into touch when no one is around him, needs to improve, a loan needed maybe.
Manolis Siopis (6.5) - Just kept it basic when he came on. Was decent.
Callum Robinson (5) - A poor performance. Showed energy but offered next to nothing in attack.
Summary:
A team there for a taking, just one too many not turning up at the moment. Difficult game next up as well.
Next up The Bluebirds host Leicester City.
