Cardiff City have completed the permanent signing of Polish international Krystian Bielik.

Bielik's youth career saw him at local side Górnik Konin and then Lech Poznań. Aged sixteen, Bielik joined Poznań's rival club, Legia Warsaw, for a reported fee of £9,000. Bielik would go straight into first-team football, featuring five times for Wojskowi.

Arsenal came calling in January 2015, signing the 17-year-old for a fee of £2.4M. Bielik would go on to make his Gooners debut in October 2015 in an EFL Cup defeat against Sheffield Wednesday. The Pole, alongside current City players Chris Willock and Calum Chambers, was a member of the Arsenal U21 side that won PL2.

Bielik made a further first-team appearance in the 16/17 EFL Cup before joining Birmingham City on loan in January 2017. Gianfranco Zola used the Pole in a back three, but after his dismissal, Bielik fell out of favour under new manager Harry Redknapp. Bielik returned to Arsenal having made ten appearances for Blues.

Walsall came calling in January 2018; however, Bielik failed to make an appearance in his six months at the Saddlers. Another loan followed that summer, with Bielik joining Charlton Athletic. Utilised both as a centre-back and a midfielder, Bielik would play a central role in helping the Addicks gain promotion to the Championship, featuring thirty-four times, netting four and assisting two.

After a successful spell at Charlton, Bielik made the permanent switch to Derby County for an initial £8M in the summer of 2019. In January 2020, Bielik suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, ruling him out until November. After an excellent return to action for the Rams, Bielik suffered yet another anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2021.

Bielik netted on his return a year on from his injury with a 96th-minute bicycle kick. Despite Bielik's return, Derby were relegated. The Pole rejoined Birmingham City on loan for the 22/23 season. Bielik enjoyed a successful second loan spell at Blues, leading to a World Cup call-up. He would feature in all four of Poland's games as they were knocked out in the Round of 16.

Following a successful loan spell, Bielik made the permanent switch to St. Andrews. Blues were relegated in the 23/24 season, with Bielik making thirty-six appearances in the league. The following season, Bielik captained Birmingham to a record-breaking League One winning campaign, featuring thirty-two times.

Despite Birmingham's promotion, Bielik departed in the summer of 2025, joining West Brom. After making twenty appearances in all competitions for the Baggies, Bielik has joined the Bluebirds on a permanent deal.

A much-needed addition at the back for City! Hopefully adds the physicality this side is crying out for.
