Cardiff City secured a vital 1-0 win on the road against Stevenage.

Calum Chambers celebrating.
Calum Chambers celebrating.

Cardiff put on most of the pressure during the evening and had two good chances in the first half. Perry Ng found himself in space in behind but dragged his effort wide from inside the box. Yousef Salech should've opened the scoring, but his header from close range failed to hit the target.

Joel Colwill hit the woodwork on the hour mark. Joel Bagan found the midfielder who's effort smashed off the crossbar. Calum Chambers was next to try his luck, forcing Filip Marschall into a save.

Callum Robinson would eventually open the scoring five minutes from time. Robinson brought the ball down from the air before unleashing an effort from twenty yards past Marschall, to secure City all three points.

Player Ratings:

Nathan Trott (7) - Had little to do, but commanded his area well. Saw a lot of the ball, and was varied on it.

Perry Ng (7.5) - Could just copy and paste what I've said most weeks about Ng. Some good progressive passing and defended well, also.

Will Fish (7) - Took a battering this evening, but stood up to the physical challenge. Did well in the air. Also contributed on the ball.

Calum Chambers (8) - Another dominant showing from City's skipper. Good on the ball and defensively solid. Got his body in the way on a few occasions. Stood up to the physical contest, also good on the ball.

Joel Bagan (7.5) - Mr. Consistent continuing his fine season. Probably can feel hard done by to come away without an assist. Did well in attack, and assured defensively.

Ryan Wintle (7.5) - Fine form continued. Swept up really well, and dominant on the ball. Spread the play quite well. Out of possession, another strong showing.

Alex Robertson (8) MOTM - Showed the most quality on the pitch. Out of possession was immense for City. On the ball showed his usual quality, sharp and tidy.

Joel Colwill (6.5) - Came close to what would've been an impressive finish. Put himself about and offered his usual energy out of possession. Quiet for periods in the game.

Cian Ashford (6.5) - Saw little of the action in the first half, but grew into the game in the second half. Looked sharp when involved. Worked hard out of possession.

Chris Willock (7) - Offered a lot more than he did on the weekend. Looked to beat his man and hurt Stevenage. Tidy on the ball and worked well with Bagan. Did well out of possession.

Yousef Salech (5.5) - Missed an absolutely glorious chance. Struggled against the physical challenge of Stevenage.

Subs:

Omari Kellyman (6.5) - Plays a part in the goal, and had a positive impact on the game. Tidy on the ball. Good out of possession.

Callum Robinson (7.5) - An excellent and important goal. Worked hard in his short time on the pitch.

David Turnbull (N/A)

Isaak Davies (N/A)

Summary:

A colossal and deserved win on the road for City!
