Cardiff City have now made it three weeks without making a new signing. Seven new names have been linked this week, in this piece I will offer a breakdown on each player linked.
Devante Cole:
Cardiff City, Hull City and Huddersfield Town are apparently all battling for Cole's signature. Son of Manchester United legend Andy Cole, Devante has caught the eye in League One this season. The 28 year-old has sixteen goals and three assists to his name so far this season. The stats obviously prove Cole is a clinical striker, he can be as important in link-up play as he likes to flick on and drive with the ball up the field. He's currently massively outperforming his xG (10.5), which shows he's definitely in the prime years of his career. Dominant in his aerial duels. Not a bad option.
Ryan Giles:
Cardiff City, Leeds Unites and Hull City are all in the mix for ex-Cardiff loanee Ryan Giles. The 23 year-old made a move to Luton in the summer but hasn't had many minutes, leaving him likely to leave The Hatters on loan for the last six months of the season. Giles' dead ball ability and crossing is a game changer at this level. If you look back at his last spell in the Welsh Capital, Giles got nine assists in the first half of the season. Giles is impressive on the ball and has a great eye for picking a pass. Struggles slightly defensively. This deal is a bit up in the air at the moment, as Paul Abbandonato stated he thought Giles was coming in a few days ago, however, recent reports now claim Hull lead the race for the fullback.
Ryan Kent:
Cardiff City, Sheffield United, Dinamo Zargreb and Al-Etiffaq are all reportedly chasing Ryan Kent. The 27 year-old signed for Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the summer, however things haven't gone as well, as Kent has only made seven appearences since his move in August. Kent is predominantly a left sided winger, with one of main attributes being his ability to cut in on his right foot. Kent holds a great ability of picking a pass and is impressive when in one-on-one scenarios. I think you just have to look at the others team in the race to see how much we have of sealing a move for Kent.
Axel Tuanzebe:
Sky Sports claimed Cardiff City were leading the race to sign Axel Tuanzebe on loan. Tuanzebe joined Ipswich in September following his release from Manchester United. Tuanzebe can be deployed as both a right-back and centre-back and is strong in his duels. However, Bulut has ruled out a move for the 26 year-old for the time being.
Will Fish:
Cardiff City are one of a whole host of clubs keen on the signature of Will Fish. The 20 year-old is an academy graduate of Manchester United and is currently on loan at Hibernian. Fish is a great reader of play with a great ability of intercepting the ball and blocking. Fish is also a great ball player with an impressive passing range, the 20 year-old is also strong in his duels. Will Fish is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season as his contract expires in the summer. One to watch in the summer.
Badou N'Diaye:
Cardiff City, Samunspor and Pendikspor are all reportedly eyeing a move for midfielder Badou N'Diaye. The 33 year-old currently plays for Adana Demirspor who currently sit 6th in the Super Lig. N'Diaye is impressive on the ball and is good at driving runs from midfielder. The ex-Stoke midfielder is also good in dead ball situations. Do feel this is perhaps another lazy Turkish link.
Andrej Ilic:
Sources in Norway claim Cardiff City have made a 'big bid' for Andrej Ilic. The Serbian striker is also reportedly open to a move to South Wales. Ranked the ninth best striker in Europe last season, Ilic has caught in the eye in Norway. The 23 year-old is impressive in the air and makes space for himself in the box and typically is in the right place at the right time. Fiorentina and Toulouse just two on the long list of teams that have previously tracked Ilic. Would be an impressive coup. Vålerenga are holding out for £5M, something Cardiff won't pay.
Conclusion:
Cardiff head into their most important ten days in recent history. If nothing changes, they could find themselves without a manager, deals need to start happening, and soon. The fans ran out of patience a long time ago, and now the manager has, the board really need to fix up.
