Cardiff City made it ten games unbeaten, as they beat Exeter City in the Vertru Trophy this evening thanks to a goal from Callum Robinson.

The hosts almost took the lead just after ten minutes, as a header from a Grecian defender was cleared on the line by Perry Ng. City's best chance of the first half came just before the break, as Callum Robinson's effort was saved by Jack Bycroft inside the box.
Cardiff did take the lead ten minutes after the restart, a well-worked corner was worked to Cian Ashford, who's cross found the head of Callum Robinson who nodded home for his first of the season.
Ashford was sent off just before the full-time whistle for two yellow cards. However, Cardiff would go onto secure all three points in the Vertu Trophy.
Player Ratings:
Matt Turner (7) - Didn't have a great deal to do, but was equal to what was thrown at him. Distribution was varied.
Perry Ng (8) MOTM - A great goal-line clearance early on, and was solid throughout. Except for one or two shaky moments driving out from the back, was good on the ball. Getting better!
Gabriel Osho (7.5) - An astute debut. Calm on the ball and seemed to always look in control. Defensively did well, also.
Dylan Lawlor (7) - Saw a lot of the ball, and on a whole was decent with it. Didn't have a great deal of defending to do, but was generally solid. Just a tidy performance.
Luey Giles (7.5) - Certainly grew into the game, particularly going forward, put in some real dangerous crosses. Defensively was good enough. Came close to scoring, also. Encouraging.
Dakarai Mafico (8) - Another strong Mafico performance. Out of possession was real good, and progressive on the ball. Kept City ticking nicely.
David Turnbull (7.5) - Affected the game subtly. Linked up nicely with Davies on the left. Astute out of possession. Went close once or twice with a long range effort. Another promising showing.
Omari Kellyman (6.5) - Tidy debut from Kellyman. Good on the ball and worked hard out of possession. Encouraging thirty-six minute showing.
Tanatswa Nyakuhwa (7) - Direct and grew in confidence as the game went on. Got at his defender and earnt several corners. Decent showing.
Isaak Davies (6.5) - Saw a lot of action in his half on the pitch, but was wasteful at times. Direct and got in some promising areas. Some nice set piece deliveries.
Callum Robinson (7) - Finally off the mark for the season! A real nice header. Quiet evening outside of the goal, but an important one nonetheless.
Subs:
Troy Perrett (7.5) - A promising debut. Worked hard out of possession and looked tidy in possession. Definitely one to watch.
Cian Ashford (7) - Definitely made an impact. Excellent cross for the goal, and on a whole caused Exeter issues down the left with his directness and skill. A red card puts a dampener on what was a productive evening for Ash.
Will Fish (7) - A shaky start, but after that was typical Will Fish. Good on the ball and strong defensively. Perhaps lucky for the disallowed goal.
Ronan Kpakio (6.5) - Tidy cameo.
Chris Willock (6.5) - Same as Kpakio.
Summary:
Another successful evening littered with Academy graduates. A positive start to the group, and some performances to be really encouraged by!
