Cardiff City return to action with a trip to the Weston Homes Stadium to face Luke Williams' Peterborough United.

The Opposition:
After a disastrous start to the season, Darren Ferguson was replaced by Luke Williams in October. Williams steadied the ship and looked like he was guiding Posh to a play-off push, but some inconsistency hit, with Peterborough looking set for a mid table finish.
Williams likes his centre backs to start the attacks, playing out from the back in the ‘proper’ way. A pattern with Williams' sides is that the ball tends to remain on the ground, with heavy reliance on building play. He likes his wing backs to start high up the pitch and press. Taking advantage of the high starting position, Williams' sides are able to transition into attack quickly. Williams' sides love pressing through the lines.
Posh sit fourteenth ahead of kick-off, and could move into twelfth with a victory against Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds:
City come into this one on the back of a goalless draw against Blackpool. Cardiff lacked imagination and creativity against a resolute Tangerines defence, something they will look to fix this time out.
City could be successful by controlling possession patiently to draw them out, then exploiting the spaces left behind their aggressive press. City's fluid positional rotations could disrupt Williams’ structured pressing traps and create high-quality chances through overloads.
Opposition Player to Watch:

Jimmy-Jay Morgan has excelled under Luke Williams, and is shaping into a real exciting young striker. The Chelsea loanee is known for his explosive speed and technical dribbling, making him a constant threat on the wing. His ability to create chances with quick, direct runs and his sharp vision makes him a standout in transitional play.
Morgan joined Chelsea from Southampton at aged seventeen. The striker's first taste of senior football came in the second half of last season on loan at Gillingham. Morgan then joined Posh on loan in the summer. The 20 year-old has netted fourteen goals in all competitions, and has netted in each of his previous five games for Luke Williams's side.
Last Meeting:
Peterborough United 1-0 Cardiff City (2025)

After City's victory over Peterborough on the opening day of the League One campaign, Posh got their own back as they knocked Cardiff out of the FA Cup back in November.
Harry Leonard's first half strike was enough to secure Peterborough their place in the next round, and Luke Williams his first win as Posh boss.
Team News:
Cardiff City - Gabriel Osho suspended. Cardiff hopeful of having Yousef Salech back available. Dylan Lawlor and Rubin Colwill to be assessed ahead of this one. Isaak Davies and Eli King remain out injured.
Peterborough United - Sam Hughes, Carl Johnston, Matt Garbett and Abraham Odoh out for the hosts.
Preferred XI:
GK - Nathan Trott
RB - Perry Ng
RCB - Dylan Lawlor
LCB - Calum Chambers
LB - Joel Bagan
CDM - Alex Robertson
CM - David Turnbull
CAM - Joel Colwill
RW - Cian Ashford
LW - Chris Willock

Score Prediction:
Peterborough United 1-1 Cardiff City
A tricky one to call, Posh have capabilities and a very nice record at home against City. I see Cardiff struggling and being held by Peterborough.
