Cardiff City made it three wins on the bounce as Erol Bulut's men beat Huddersfield 1-0 in the Welsh capital.

Famara Diedhiou celebrating with David Turnbull and Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

The Bluebirds had the first notable chance of the game, as Karlan Grant cut in from the left but saw his effort pushed away from goal. The Terriers responded with a heade from Spencer, however he was denied by Ethan Horvath.

Ryan Wintle played a brilliant ball out to Josh Bowler who matched the pass with an excellent touch, Bowler cut it back and there was Famara Diedhiou to score his first Cardiff City goal, just be the half an hour mark.

Huddersfiled came out for the second half firing, Burgzorg had a shot held by Horvath and Rudoni headed over from close range.

Diedhiou almost doubled his tally as his flicked effort took a deflection, however Nicholls recovered in time to collect the ball. Subsitue Rubin Colwill found room on the edge of the area after a good run, however his shot was easily claimed by Lee Nicholls.

The Terriers should have been level late-on, as Danny Ward couldn't find the net when it looked easier to score.

That's all she wrote, three on the bounce for Bulut's Bluebirds.

Player Ratings:

Ethan Horvath (7) - Didn't have a great deal to do, but when he was called into action he was alert. Was decent plating out from the back, one or two passes into touch but nothing major.

Perry Ng (7) - Was strong against a powerful winger, and limited him to near enough nothing. Picked out some decent passes offensively.

Dimitrios Goutas (7) - Solid as ever from Dimi. Did fairly well in the air against Ward who does specialise in that department. On the ball was good.

Nat Phillips (7) - Same story as Goutas really. Held his own and made some key blocks. Good on the ball, calm as ever.

Josh Wilson-Esbrand (7.5) MOTM - Very impressed with JWE. Against a good winger in Sorba Thomas, he very much held his own. Got forward well. Effected the game both defensively and offensively.

Ryan Wintle (7) - A brilliant ball for Diedhiou's goal. That was one of a few good forward passes Wintle made. Faded out in the second half. All-round a solid eveing for Wintle.

Joe Ralls (7) - Trademark Ralls, really. Put himself about and effected the game both defensively and offensively. Delivery was decent.

David Turnbull (7) - Showed his technichal ability tonight. On the ball, Turnbull was so strong and found himself in some great spaces, and he was able to effect the game. Really exciting to watch at the moment.

Josh Bowler (7) - A first City assist this evening, and it was a very good one. Took the ball down well and did well to find Diedhiou. Was quiet after that.

Karlan Grant (7) - A nuiscance to the opposition. Caught Huddersfield players in possession a few times. Looked sharp going forward, unfortuantely had nothing to show for it.

Famara Diedhiou (7) - Took his goal really well. Definitely wasn't the finish of a striker that hadn't scored in two years. Didn;t do a great deal outside of that, held the ball up well once or twice.

Subs:

Yakou Meite (6) - Can't say I noticed him a great deal of him. Tried but nothing really came off.

Rubin Colwill (7) - One or two nice runs, that arguably he could've done better with. However, on a whole looked quite good.

Manolis Siopis (7) - Made a big impact when he came on. The game was sort of crying out for him late on. Cut out passes and was key late on.

Ollie Tanner (6.5) - Looked like he could hurt Huddersfield. Got in some good areas just lacked the composure to make the most of it.

Callum O'Dowda (7) - As far as twelve minute cameos go, you'll fail to see much better. His pace allowed Cardiff some breathing space late on. Won the ball high up the pitch a few times. Very encouraging.

Summary:

It wasn't pretty, but most importantly The Bluebirds got the job done. On a whole, a good team performance and players stepped up in a difficult game. A harder one ahead on the weekend.
