Despite controlling the game, The Bluebirds came away with nothing in what was a disappointing and underwhelming loss at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Aaron Ramsey battling with Andre Dozzell

A mistake by Callum O'Dowda saw QPR attack swiftly and Sinclair Armstrong opened the scoring. The second half brought more of the same with The Bluebirds dominating the ball, however a flurry of individual mistakes saw Kenneth Paal double The R's lead. A late goal from Ike Ugbo wasn't enough for The Bluebirds.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (6) - Made an impressive save in the first half and was decent at trying to get the ball up the pitch. Not much he could do about the goals.

Perry Ng (5) - A poor performance from Ng this afternoon. The CCS was collectively frustrated at his reluctance to go forward and the constantly either playing it inside to Wintle or back to McGuinness. Room to improve.

Mark McGuinness (6) - The only one who had a slight control of Sinclair Armstrong. Macca was good on the ball and was unlucky not to score late on. Impressive in the air in both defence and attack.

Dimitrios Goutas (5) - A difficult afternoon for Goutas. In the air he had no problems, but on the floor Goutas struggled. Ultimately it is going to take time to settle to a new division but some of the basics just aren't being done.

Callum O'Dowda (5.5) - The first goal summed up O'Dowda's first half, he struggled. Similar to Ng he was reluctant to get forward. Since Portugal we just haven't seen O'Dowda and Grant link up well. O'Dowda improved in the second half with a nice assist for the Ugbo goal.

Ryan Wintle (5) - A poor showing from Wintle this afternoon. Too often he went back or sideways without even looking ahead of him. Some of his passes were below par and he really struggled this afternoon. Really struggled against Chair.

Ebou Adams (6) - Decent full Championship debut for Ebou. Shame his afternoon was cut short with injury as he was dominating. Adams was putting himself winning nine duels in the middle of the park. Decent on the ball as well.

Aaron Ramsey (7) MOTM - Admittedly possibly at fault for the second but besides that he was impressive. Watching today it was clear he's in a different league to everybody else on the pitch. Some slick footwork and decent passes, encouraging outing from Rambo.

Josh Bowler (5.5) - A quiet afternoon for Bowler, looked a shadow of the player who played last week. Another player that wouldn't just run at the QPR backline. Some glimpses so let's hope he's back to his best next week. Ridiculous yellow card.

Karlan Grant (4.5) - Really disappointing afternoon for Grant. Ultimately was too slow and held onto the ball for too long. The ball fell for him six yards out and somehow it didn't end up in the back of the net. Room to improve.

Ike Ugbo (6) - One chance, one goal. Can you ask for much more? Admittedly did struggle against Cook who bullied him at times. Was denied a couple of blatant fouls.

Subs:

Callum Robinson (6) - When involved Robbo looked sharp and promising. Maybe could've been involved more but it's his first game back so he'll only get better.

Ollie Tanner (6.5) - Game changer. Tanner was so obviously what the game was crying out for, his directness changed the game for The Bluebirds and he looked very promising.

Rubin Colwill (6) - Very involved when he came on and linked well with Tanner, big things coming from Colwill and Tanner this season.

Jamilu Collins (N/A) - Much improved on midweek but didn't play long enough for a rating, hoping to see more of JC.

Kion Etete (N/A) - Not very involved when he came on. Some nice lay offs here and there.

Summary

Some positives from individuals and this team isn't far off clicking, we need to keep the faith. Ultimately today wasn't good enough but we're two games into a new system, so this team needs time to become more familiar to the system and the players they are playing with.

The Bluebirds will now travel to Leicester next weekend.
