Both sides had decent efforts in the opening stages of the game. Jerry Yates forced Jak Alnwick into an early save after powerful snapshot on the edge of the box. Joe Ralls had an effort from distance tipped over.
Cardiff sprung into life around the hour mark as Callum Robinson gave The Bluebirds the lead. Joe Ralls found the striker who's initial effort was saved, but Robbo wasn't denied the second time, netting his eleventh of the season.
City added a second not long after through Anwar El Ghazi. A counterattack saw the ball fall at the feet of Robinson who played it square to El Ghazi who calmly finished to give sit a two goal lead.
Cian Ashford had a glorious chance to add a third, but smashed over from close range despite the goal gaping.
The Rams would get one back through a header from Lars-Jørgen Salvesen, however it wasn't enough as Cardiff made it eight unbeaten and secured all three points.
Player Ratings:
Jak Alnwick (8) - Made some real key saves to keep City in it in the first half. Commanded his box far better than Tuesday.
Andy Rinomhota (7.5) - Another solid showing, strong his battles. Bursts from deep really good. Feel he can do more for the goal to put off Salvesen.
Dimitrios Goutas (8) - Equal to everything Derby threw at the defence. The Clearance king. A calm and assured performance.
Jesper Daland (7) - A calm and assured performance, as well. Wasn't involved a great deal, but did his job when called into action. Some nice pieces on the ball.
Perry Ng (8) - Out of position but more than held his own. Got forward well on a few occasions, solid defensively.
Calum Chambers (7) - Just another all-round solid game. Assured on the ball.
Joe Ralls (8) MOTM - Plays a crucial role in the first goal, denied of a spectacular one himself. Just kept City ticking and was everywhere!
Alex Robertson (6.5) - On of his quieter games in a City shirt. Did play a role in the second goal. Tidy showing.
Cian Ashford (6.5) - Defensive work was top notch, where the second goal came from. Had to score his chance.
Chris Willock (6) - A quiet performance, got in some great areas but chose the safer choice more often than not.
Callum Robinson (8) - Robinson again ole ole! Poacher's finish for the goal and a great ball to set up the winner. Keeps getting better.
Subs:
Anwar El Ghazi (8) - Changed the game and built on what was a good cameo in the week with a good finish, unfortunate not to get another.
Yousef Salech (6.5) - Difficult game to come on into, had a decent chance and went close. A decent and energetic cameo.
Yakou Meite (7) - A great burst and pass to find Salech for his chance. Defended well.
Will Fish (N/A) - Did Fish touch the ball?
