Cardiff City remain in the Welsh Capital as they host Ian Evatt's Blackpool in City's last game before the International Break.

The Opposition:

The Tangerines have struggled for consistency throughout the season, and are set for a scrap at the bottom in the last few months of the season.

Evatt’s teams like to dominate the ball, build from the back and press aggressively.

The system relies on ball-playing centre-backs, energetic midfielders, and

adventurous wing-backs pushing high. However, that approach can leave them

exposed to high presses and quick counter-attacks, an area Cardiff could look to

exploit.

Blackpool sit 21st and in the relegation zone ahead of kick-off, but could move out of the relegation places and into 18th with a victory in the Welsh Capital.

The Bluebirds:

Cardiff come into this one on the back of a disappointing defeat against Wycombe Wanderers. Second half goals from Andre Vidigal and Cauley Woodrow secured all three points for The Chairboys.

Barry-Murphy’s footballing philosophy is similar to that of Evatt’s, setting up what

should be a fascinating tactical contest. The City boss has praised his squad’s

resilience, often noting how they respond strongly to setbacks on the training pitch.

With both sides keen to dominate the ball and attack in numbers, an open and

entertaining encounter could be on the cards at Bloomfield Road.

Opposition Player to Watch:

Ashley Fletcher celebrating.
Ashley Fletcher celebrating.

Striker Ashley Fletcher has been the only real spark for Blackpool this season. Fletcher is a physical centre-forward who uses his strength and hold-up play to bring teammates into the game while leading the line. He relies on aerial ability and positioning in the box to create and finish chances rather than pace or flair.

A product of the Manchester United Academy, after a loan move to Barnsley, Fletcher departed Old Trafford for West Ham. Fletcher swiftly sealed a permanent move to Middlesbrough. After a loan move to Sunderland, the forward sealed a permanent move to Watford. Loan moves to New York Red Bulls, Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday followed, before a permanent move to Blackpool in 2024. The 30 year-old has netted twenty-one goals in all competitions so far this season.

Last Meeting:

Blackpool 3-1 Cardiff City (2025)

Blackpool rocked The Bluebirds in the reverse fixture, as The Seasiders maintained their 100% start to life under Ian Evatt.

Ashley Fletcher netted a brace in the second half, before Tom Bloxham added a third. Despite a late Yousef Salech goal, Blackpool cruised to victory.

Team News:

Cardiff City - Gabriel Osho suspended. Yousef Salech, Isaak Davies and Eli King remain out for The Bluebirds.
