Cardiff were forced to settle for a point after a late equaliser from Watford this evening.

Cian Ashford celebrating.
Cian Ashford celebrating.

The game only really sprung into life on the hour mark. Perry Ng's effort looked destined for the back of the net, but was cleared off the line.

City soon took the lead through Cian Ashford. After a Calum Chambers charge down, the ball fell to Ashford who neatly finished to give The Bluebirds the lead.

Ashford almost had a second late on, as he cut in on his left foot in the box but had an effort blocked at the last second.

Watford would make City rue their missed chances, as a header from point-blank rnage from Vakun Bayo meant the two sides shared the points.

Player Ratings:

Jak Alnwick (7) - Made a key save in the dying moments of the game. Some excellent distribution.

Perry Ng (7) - Far better than what we saw on Thursday. Defended well and was solid throughout. Up to his usual shenanigans as well.

Dimitrios Goutas (7) - Had an answer to a lot in the air. Solid and reliable as ever.

Jesper Daland (6.5) - Another neat performance from Daland. Wasn't involved a great deal, kept City ticking from deep.

Callum O'Dowda (5) - A bit like Bristol City all over again, just needed to clear his lines. Had a relatively quiet evening outside of that.

Andy Rinomhota (7) - His usual robust and tenacious self in midfield. Stopped a handful of counterattacks. Mr. Consistent at the moment.

Calum Chambers (8.5) MOTM - Magnificent, again. The engine was brilliant as well as the playmaking from deep and breaking lines. Pure tenacity got City a goal.

Cian Ashford (8) - Ashford is in the form of his life, five goal involvements in six games, what more can you ask? A brilliantly taken goal. Defensively worked hard as well.

Alex Robertson (6.5) - Put in the graft off the ball. Usual tidy self on the ball. Set piece delivery was far better today,

Chris Willock (6.5) - Looked like he could hurt Watford, and had a good effort saved in the first half. Had the beating of Ngakia down that side.

Rubin Colwill (6) - The graveyard shift, and Colwill gave it his all. Had a half-chance but nothing more. Worked hard in fairness. Hope he gave Porteous his shirt as he clearly wanted it.

Subs:

Ollie Tanner (6.5) - A decent energetic cameo.

Yakou Meite (6.5) - Held the ball up well, but similar for Colwill struggled a bit in the graveyard shift.

Joel Bagan (N/A)

Joe Ralls (N/A)

Summary:

Frustrating after being so good for large patches of the game, but we're out the bottom three (for now), and that's important. Onto the big one.
