Cardiff City have been beaten 4-1 this afternoon by a dominant Norwich City.
Norwich almost took an early lead as Nat Phillips was forced to clear an effort off the line. Ethan Horvath was then made to make a save from close-range, before Ashley Barnes headed over when it looked easier to score.
The Bluebirds took the lead after nineteen minutes, Rubin Colwill forced a ball across the box and it was stabbed home by Jamilu Collins at the back post.
The Canries almost hit back immediately as Gabriel Sara hit the post from the edge of the box. Norwich then equalised through Josh Sargent after thirty-nine minutes, after an initial save from Horvath, the ball fell to his fellow American Sargent who rocketed into the roof of the net.
Norwich doubled their lead five minutes later through Gabriel Sara. The Brazilian scored with an excellent free-kick. The Canaries led at the break.
Norwich made it three just nine minutes into the second half, Josh Sargent doubled his tally for the afternoon as he finished from close range. Norwich made it four in the seventy-seventh minute through Christian Fassnacht. That was that, Cardiff fell to yet another defeat.
Player Ratings:
Ethan Horvath (4) - Hard to give any more to a 'keeper who conceded four goals. Made a few saves, otherwise was a poor afternoon for City's number one.
Mahlon Romeo (4) - Struggled massively defensively. Was caught out quite a few times. Got in some decent spaces in the final third bu couldn't make anything of it.
Dimitrios Goutas (5) - Struggled against Sargent. Was too slow to many balls. Did make a handful of blocks and interceptions.
Nat Phillips (6) - Could've been a lot worse without Phillips. One clearance off the line and twelve clearances altogether. Pretty solid.
Jamilu Collins (6) - Right place, right time. Took his goal decently. He wasn't good but wasn't bad, he was ok. Defensively wasn't the best.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand (5) - Didn't do much in his half on the pitch. Just six touches, got in some decent areas but nothing came from it.
Manolis Siopis (5.5) - Cardiff were under immense pressure for the majority of the game, so Sio was under a lot of pressure, he dealt with it slightly, but did get over ran due to Norwich out numbering Cardiff in the final third.
Joe Ralls (5) - Similar to Sio. Didn't do a great deal when he did get on the ball, but was against some real good opposition. Ok defensively.
Rubin Colwill (7) MOTM - Same story over the last few months, Colwill was the only creative outlet for Cardiff. Made the goal and looked to make things happen.
Karlan Grant (5) - Linked up well with Colwill. However, got in behind a few times and made the wrong decisions.
Famara Diedhiou (5) - Hard to rate as he didn't get the ball. Tried hard but nothing came off for him.
Subs:
Josh Bowler (5.5) - Came on and tried to make things happen, definitely tried but nothing to show for it.
Ryan Wintle (4) - Ran through far too easily. Was a strange subsitution. Passed the ball into touch showed the type of game he had.
Kion Etete (4.5) - Reluctant to press yet again. Didn't make an impact on the game.
David Turnbull (6) - Looked tidy when he came on. Looked forward and tried getting the team up the pitch. Must start on Tuesday.
Ollie Tanner (6) - Worked well with Turnbull. Was direct and tried to get the team forward.
Summary:
Hard to see where Cardiff go from here if I'm honest. Bulut has tried to change things, and the team have gotten worse. Huge week ahead for The Bluebirds' boss.
