Cardiff City are back in action as they travel to Pride Park to face Paul Warne's Derby.
The Opposition:
Derby had an inconsistent start to last season, and pressure began to mount on Paul Warne. However, a good turn of form saw The Rams fly up the table, and eventually clinched promotion on the final day.
The Rams have recruited heavily as they look to build on last season's success, Derby have brought in Jerry Yates from Swansea, Jacob Zetterstrom from Djurgarden, Kenzo Goudmijn from AZ, Corey Blackett-Taylor from Charlton, Kayden Jackson from Ipswich, David Ozoh from Crystal Palace, Marcus Harness from Ipswich, Nat Phillips from Liverpool, Tawanda Chirewa from Wolves, Ben Osborn from Sheffield United as well as Ebou Adams and Rohan Luthra from The Bluebirds.
Warne's known for his robust style of play. Despite not playing the most attractive brand, Warne has typically enjoyed success as a manager. Warne's sides like to build up quick by getting the ball out wide, and utilising the quality of someone like Mendez-Laing.
The Bluebirds:
Cardiff come into this on the back of their third defeat in four. The Bluebirds dominated spells against Middlesbrough, but were ultimately beaten 2-0 by Michael Carrick's side.
The Bluebirds will likely control the possession, but will have to switch from defence to attack much quicker than in recent weeks. Cardiff will also have to show more quality in the final third as they'll face a low block, and likely have limited real clear cut chances.
Team News:
Cardiff City - Bulut suspended. Ralls and Fish is back available for The Bluebirds. Daland, Ramsey, Tsunoda, Davies, Etete and Collins out.
Derby County - Phillips and Harness are available for debuts. Rooney and Chirewa out.
Preferred XI:
GK - Jak Alnwick
RB - Perry Ng
RCB - Calum Chambers
LCB - Will Fish
LB - Joel Bagan
CDM - Manolis Siopis
LCM - Alex Robertson
RCM - Rubin Colwill
RW - Anwar El Ghazi
LW - Chris Willock
ST - Callum Robinson
Prediction:
Derby County 1-1 Cardiff City
Pride Park is a difficult place to go, and The Rams will be full of confidence after a 3-0 win, so I think a point would be a step in the right direction for The Bluebirds.
