Cardiff City have returned to the top of the table after a 3-2 victory over Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

Cardiff dominated the opening encounters and opened the scoring after seven minutes. Joel Bagan's cutback was met by Yousef Salech who put The Bluebirds in front.

The visitors were level soon after the break. Marcus Harness' corner was played to Chelsea loanee Leo Castledine, who's powerful effort took a nick off fellow Chelsea loanee Omari Kellyman to beat Nathan Trott to bring the game all square.

City retook the lead just ten minutes later through Salech again. Ryan Wintle found Cian Ashford in behind, who played an inch-perfect ball to the City striker who headed home from close range.

Isaak Davies added a third as his powerful effort from the edge of the box flew past Lee Nicholls, and despite a late consolation from Joe Taylor, it was enough to secure Cardiff all three points.

Player Ratings:

Nathan Trott (6) - Not sure how much he can do for either goals, but both feel preventable. Distribution was varied, some sloppy stuff.

Perry Ng (7.5) - Continuing his good run. Some real good passes in behind for Ashford. Defended really well, also.

Will Fish (7.5) - Made some vital blocks at the back for City. Plays a role in the first goal, some really good work on the ball. Dominated in the air.

Dylan Lawlor (7) - Similar to Fish, made some key blocks. Read the game very well. Some nice stuff on the ball, but also too casual at times.

Joel Bagan (8) - Trademark Joel Bagan. Got forward really well, leading to a nice assist for the opener. Good defensively, also. Really good feet to get City out of tight spaces.

Ryan Wintle (8.5) - Backed up his best game in a Cardiff shirt, with one as good today. Sweeps up exceptionally. On the ball, brilliant. Breaking the lines so well, plays a vital role in the second and third goals. Another exceptional showing.

David Turnbull (7) - Another tidy showing from Turnbull. Controlled and impressive on the ball. Did well out of possession, also.

Omari Kellyman (8) - Very impressive in his natural position. Found the wingers really well. Out of possession, so good, won the ball on several occasions high up the pitch. Tidy and impressive on the ball as always.

Cian Ashford (8.5) - Another brilliant performance from Ashford. Excellent out of possession again, and posed a constant threat with the ball. An excellent cross to find Salech for the second. Coming on leaps and bounds.

Chris Willock (5) - Offered very little both in and out of possession, and should arguably have scored with a great chance in the box. Just didn't get going.

Yousef Salech (9) MOTM - Led the line perfectly. Two well-taken goals as well as an excellent assist. Held the ball up well and did well in the air. A great showing from Salech!

Subs:

Alex Robertson (6.5) - A tidy and progressive showing. Looks after the ball really well. Unfortunate for Huddersfield's second.

Joel Colwill (7.5) - Played a big role in the game switching in City's favour. Energy was effective, and showed a lot on the ball. Exceptional feet and out of possession, did well.

Isaak Davies (7.5) - A great goal to match the maximum effort Davies put in. Added needed energy down the left.

Ronan Kpakio (N/A)

Callum Robinson (N/A)

Summary:

Score line makes it look a tight game, but it was a convincing and impressive showing from City. Onto a huge game on Tuesday!
