BACK-TO-BACK DEFEATS

Cardiff City suffered their second defeat of the week, losing 2-0 to a clinical Portsmouth side.

Player Ratings:
Nathan Trott (5) - A mix-up led to the throw-in for the first goal, although it feels harsh to blame Trott for. Was hesitant coming off his line, which made it nervy at the back. Distribution was decent.
Perry Ng (5.5) - Distribution was too slow in finding the winger. Defensively had a mixed game. Came close with an effort late on.
Krystian Bielik (7) - Carried the ball very well, and distribution was impressive, particularly an outside-of-the-boot ball to Moylan in the second half. Defensively did fairly well. Dominant in the air.
Gabriel Osho (6.5) - Had one shaky underhit back pass; otherwise was decent in possession. Made some key challenges defensively. Lost his man for the second goal.
Joel Bagan (7.5) MOTM - Stopped two great chances late on with key challenges. Was a constant threat on the overlap and really should've had an assist or two. Defensively held his own against the tricky Kamara.
Alex Robertson (6) - Same story as the other four games. Strong in possession but showed fragilities out of possession. Spreads play well and was at the root of Cardiff's strong start.
David Turnbull (7.5) - A really strong first-half performance, slick with the ball and found some great passes in behind. Worked hard in and out of possession. Quieter second half.
Jack Moylan (6) - The only threat for Cardiff in the final third, but was fairly wasteful. Was found in some great areas but couldn't sort his feet out. Worked hard and did make an impact centrally and out wide; just needed that final touch to provide more quality.
Ollie Tanner (4) - Has to score one, if not two. Had Cardiff's two best chances and fluffed his line. Wasteful in possession. Another rash yellow card out of frustration, perhaps. Feels like an easy target at the moment, but does need to step up his game.
Chris Willock (5) - Had a decent start, got in behind a few times, but largely struggled. One-dimensional, and his final ball didn't have near enough quality, finding the goalkeeper's gloves from crosses on more than one occasion. Did his defensive work fairly well.
Yousef Salech (5) - Never in that game. Pompey defenders made easy physical work of Salech. Did have a decent effort stopped in the second half. Needs to anticipate play so much better.
Subs:
Rubin Colwill (4.5) - Same as Wednesday. Too sloppy in possession and almost cost two goals. Game summarised by the poor free-kick at the end.
Joel Colwill (5.5) - Put himself about and made some decent forward runs. Just needs fine-tuning with his final touch.
Cian Ashford (N/A)
Calum Scanlon (N/A)
Summary:
Underwhelming, to say the least.
